My fridge knocks when running

Pops and knocks loudly when running

Happens usually at night, and i mean loud intermitant popping of different intensity. Sounds like it's going to spit like a volcano any minute. Been like this for a liittle over 2 years (after moving in). Still holding temp fine in both freezer and fridge section. It's a side by side configuration. Has water and ice maker, but only use ice maker in freezer section. Working like it should but just waiting for the day it gives out. Is it worth repairing? I'm a d.i.y. guy, just tell me. Don't know the age/model (even though i used a number in above heading, i am not sure) because the info tag was ripped off inside! Thanks in advance!

Your fridge's compressor motor is suspended inside the compressor housing on three or four springs. These springs are designed to hold the motor load in a vertical position. Transporting a fridge on it's side can stretch or break these springs which can cause a shudder stop condition (the fridge makes a shuddering banging noise everytime the compressor stops and sometimes when it starts).

It's a good idea to let a fridge sit for a bit anytime it is moved. Over night won't hurt but an 8-10 hours is more than enough time some say less.

the internet consensus seems to be that you should limit the amount of time the unit is not upright. And as stated above, leave it upright at least overnight before starting it. Apparently damage can arise from mixing of lubricant and coolant, so damage is more likely in an older unit with worn seals.

My Haier fridge freezer is making a very loud and constant knocking sound. Is it still safe to have switched And does anyone know what the problem could be?

Pull the fridge freezer out and see if the loud knocking sound is coming from the compressor. It's that black round thing at the bottom in the back. If it is, it's time to go shopping.

Very loud noises

Check the rubber mounts under the compressor and look for any lines touching the sides of the cabinet. The gurgling and clunking are often normal. good luck. Roger

Ice maker makes knocking noice

It would depend on the model of your fridge. Most fridges, you would just need to change the icemaker, but if it is a whirlpool or kitchenaid, you can just replace the module on the front of the icemaker (part number 8201515)

How do I stop the loud knocking noises coming from my refridgerator?

Pull the fridge away from the wall and inspect the compressor. Your description sounds like the compressor is hitting something. It is rubber mounted and usually can be pushed away from whatever it is hitting. You do not want to jamb something to stop the noise, as the compressor needs to move freely. Many compressors shake during start up and shutdown, and this is considered normal. Abnormal if the compressor hits something during this movement.

My mothers beko fridge freezer making bubbling sound

Sounds like the evaporator fan is doing its job. Nothing to worry about. Good hearing is a blessing all fridges make different sounds some click loud while others gurgle loud. Some pop and snap. Till I got my hearing aids I didn't know mine ran so loud and clicked.

Fridge intermittently bangs like very loud champagne cork popping

Sometimes when fridge first starts they can sound like water dripping into hot oil or deep fryer, this is caused by liquid refrigerant returning to compressor which has hot oil in sump, this is normal and no need for alarm, unless the fridge is not keeping temperature.

Kenmore Refrigerator making loud sounds at shutdown

the compressor has a loose or broken spring inside the compressor, unfortunatly it can not be repaired without replacing the compressor, it could last many more years and it could quit as we speak.

best thing is to let the neighbor know of the problem and what is the repair that way they won't think you are ponning off the machine to them, it may outlast your new one, time will tell
