I was downloading a new app when suddenly my iphone freezes. i then hit the sleep/wake button and as far as the app it worked but then iphone just stays on the black screen. how do i unlock/reset my iphone 3g?

i would suggest a hard reset. this will turn your iphone or ipod off and back on. to do this hold the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for about 10 seconds. once it turns back on, try the app again. if this does not work, i would try deleting and then re-downloading the app form the app store.
