Re: ice maker will not make ice

I have one of these. It stopped making ice after about 6 mo. The solenoid water valve was the problem. Its a common Frigidaire valve that has an orifice to let in the right amount. If it restricts the unit won't reject ice as a certain amount water is required in addition to hot gas compressor cycle to release ice. If too much water flows in during a cycle the ice making bin overflows and melts the ice it just made. Replace the valve if it looks like you have a problem with ice rejection or overflow or if ice is poorly formed.

Re: ice maker will not make ice

Well this product is skechy at best. I bought one at Home Depot and had the same problem. Well under warranty pressure they engaged Sears as the repair facility. Well four trips later the thing makes ice but now it all melts within a few hours.

Sears is here for the 5th time.

Everstar HDIM35 is not worth the trouble. Buy ice bags for your parties.

My ice maker is not working model #ED2LHAXMB00 made 05/03 the

Before you replace the Water Valver - Shut your water off - disconnect the water line to the from the back of the refrigerator at the top where it goes into the icemaker. I used zip tie or something flexable to see if it would go all the way through to the
tube inside the refrig. If you have obstruction - use your hair dryer
to thaw the ice from inside the refrigerator tube. When the flexable goes all the way through. Hook back the water line to the icemaker. You will have ice soon. If still no ice, replace the water Inlet valve.

Ice maker won't make ice

With ice makers it is almost always one of two things. The ice maker itself, or the water valve. Figuring out which one is easy, and I will help explain.

First thing is the frig has to be cold enough for the ice maker to even start working. I'm assuming we have the cold part taken care of. Next, the machine will start a cycle and ask for water. Here is where the valve comes in. The ice maker energizes the valve and it opens allowing water to rush up the back of the frig and into the ice maker. After the ice freezes the ice maker goes into harvest and dumps the ice.

In conclusion, you either have an ice maker that stalled at some point during that cycle (in which case you need a new ice maker). Or the water valve is not opening, thus no water enters the ice maker and you get zero ice.

If you have ice in the ice maker and it is not dumping, you need a new ice maker. If it is empty, you have to either wait for it to ask for water or manually advance the ice maker into cycle so you do not have to wait.

At this point you will hear the water valve energize or not. If it never energizes, the ice maker is not working right, if it energizes and you get squat, the valve needs to be replaced.

If you have experience with a multimeter you could detach the harness going to the ice maker and simply hook up your leads. When the ice maker asks for water, you should get 110v reading on the meter. If you do, the valve is bad and needs to be replaced.

If I can be of any further assistance please let me know. good luck!

Oh, and the valve probably sells for between $50 and $100 depending on where you buy it. The ice maker should run between $100 and $180.

P.S. There is a remote chance the filter needs to be replaced. An old filter can cause water pressure issues and you may not get enough water into the ice maker.

I just moved my side by side and hooked up the water line. I have water to the dispenser but it doesn't seem like there is any water running into the ice maker. Does it take a while??

Yes, I would leave it alone for at least 24hours, when it starts making ice you should throw away the first couple of ice cycles.

Freezer is almost always running....

If you look at the icemaker, you will see a metal wire which runs along the side of the unit. If you manually swing the wire arm up until it locks in place (about 90 degree swing from the normal straight down position) you will have turned the icemaker off. (Alternatively you can unplug the electrical plug from the icemaker which goes into the freezer wall.)
If the icemaker is not turned off, it will periodically cycle, which turns on the ice cube mode release heater during it's cycle, putting unnecessary heat into your freezer. You do not need to plug the ice maker supply line. This should be a Fix-Ya for your refrig.

Water shooting out the icemaker hose

(I hooked up the lines and water goes heywire) You hooked up the lines to what? If you changed the water valve you may have the dispenser and ice maker lines reversed along with the electrical connections to the top of the valves.

How to hook up Ice & Water dispenser on freezer door

The water valve is on the back of the refrigerator. The water line connects directly to that valve. If there is no line available then you will need to run one from a cold water line in the plumbing using a drill type (1/4") saddle valve on that pipe. Hope this helps. If you need more instruction let me know!
