Using a test light check for power and ground for the lighter socket. if this is good then then you know the fuse is good. this indicates that you need to replace the cigarette lighter element. the part that gets hot when you want to light a cigarette.

SOURCE: Cigarette lighter sockets no power

Cell phone chargers commonly blow the fuses at the power points. It seems that our charger adaptors do not match the socket properly, and the positive part of the charger hits the negative of the socket, resulting in a blown fuse. If you have a charger, and it works, leave it in the socket. Don't take it with you. Repeated insertions of the adaptor to the socket magnifies this issue.

How do I remove cigarette lighter socket without removing dashboard?

If your cigarette lighter socket is not working... it may not be the socket itself that has failed but a fusible link under the dash that has. If it's the fusible link, you will need to get the Haynes Manual to learn where it's located to replace it. The socket is usually powered directly from the ignition switch. Sometimes, there is a fuse for them... check it first. Otherwise, it's quite possibly the dreaded fusible link.

2000 Nissan Frontier Cigarette lighter not working while I use tire compresser using,

Tire compressor probably draws too much current for the socket. Are you sure it is a cigarette lighter socket? Some sockets are just to provide accessories 12v. Did a cigarette lighter come with this socket? True cigarette lighter sockets are generally fused at 25 or 30 Amps

Had cell phone and computer plugged into dual cigarette lighter unit and cigarette lighter overheated and quit working - we checked the fuse - it seems fine.Just want the cigarette lighter socket to work...

More than likely overheated the wiring going to the lighter as well and burned it off. If you pull the lighter socket out you should see if it did. Simply solder it back on and be careful not to overload it again.

1995 camry wagon cigarette lighter not working

start with a test light and check for power at the center of the cigarette lighter socket. If power is good, then check for ground at side of lighter socket.
If no power, run wire from power wire of lighter to power wire of stereo, thus tapping the power directly and bothering to trace out where the open int he circuit may be.
