I just read that the Powassan tick has a bite that is lethal in one out of three bites, and there is no cure for it. It is located in Southern Connecticut. Any truth?

What is the symptoms for tick fever

Symptoms and signs of tick bite fever If you get bitten by an infected tick, the incubation period (the period between being infected and displaying symptoms) is about five to seven days. Symptoms can vary, depending partly on the organism involved. Your age and underlying health may also influence the severity of the infection.
Typical features may include the presence of a black mark where the bite occurred, and fever, severe headache and a rash. The black mark at the site of the tick bite is called an eschar (or a tache noir), and looks like a small ulcer (2-5mm in diameter) with a black centre. It may look something like a spider bite. The eschars can be single or multiple and can sometimes be very difficult to find. The eschar usually appears once the fever appears, as does the headache and malaise (general feeling of ill-health). Lymph nodes near the eschar may be enlarged.
A rash is usually, but not always, a feature of tick bite fever (it is supposedly less likely to occur in someone infected by R. africae), but when it is present, it consists of small red marks on the skin, sometimes raised slightly above the surface. It typically starts on the limbs and spreads to the trunk, and can involve the entire body, including the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

What can i use for bed bug bites to get read of them

A topical salve might work. Some people are more sensitive to bed bug bites than others. I am one myself, so I have been combatting them for awhile, and believe I have the upper hand.. There is lots of research available on the internet on how to get rid of them. You could also google what product might be best for bites.
You get the stinging sensation about 5 or ten minutes after they have bitten, and within a few minutes more a red welt develops. I have found the less you scratch the bite, the better. In about 45 minutes to an hour the itching starts to subside.
Of all the products I have tried (not that many but a few), the most effective is a spray from Harris. It is in yellow bottles or spray cans. Try Home Best or Walmart for it. It is rather expensive, about 10 or 11 dollars a can, but very effective at killing bugs.
Anyway I hope you find something to help with the bites.

What helps bed bug bites

Hello sir/madam

Wash the bites with soap and water. This will help prevent a skin infection and help reduce itchiness.

If the bites itch, apply a corticosteroid cream to the bites. You can get a weak form of this medicine without a prescription at your local drugstore.

Or if you can't get access to a local pharmacy at the moment just apply lotion and try not to itch the bites just leave them alone

Hope it helps

Is this a spider bite?

The identifying thing with spider bites is the double bite mark. Often, you can only see it after a couple of days. A good way to see it is to press on the bite so the blood drains from the surface of the skin and then let go and look closely. The blood comes to the bite first, so the two puncture marks are very distinct. Put .5% Hydrocortisone cream on it, three times a day for three days. If the area gets larger, or there is any colour change, see your doctor.

I have been bitten twice. Once at a picnic table outside a bar on a harbour, and once gardening pruning and picking from tomato plants. The first time my finger joint was swollen and I couldn't bend my finger for two days.

What kind of spider is this I have three young kids and I'm wondering if I should worry if it will hurt them this is the third one I have caught in my house

I looked this up at the local university's Entomology department. This appears to be a "Parson Spider". The bite is not lethal, but can be painful. It was also noted that some people can have an allergic reaction to their bite. I am not an expert, any local entomology department can help you better with proper identification.

What is a bite valve?

The bite valve is a soft plastic valve which controls the flow of water from the bladder. There are two types of bite valve, the one that you should only bite it to drink and the one that you need to bite and draw in order to drink from it.
