Was adjusting the clutch cable and the bolt that that holds on cable on gearbox end has come loose and won't tread back in

How to remove 1400 Nissan gearbox out

1 Remove battery earth cable.
2 Remove gear shift lever - usually just pulls out.
3 Remove starter motor.
4 Remove bolts holding prop shaft to gearbox final drive, and remove the prop shaft.
5 Remove all bolts around bell housing holding bell housing to engine.
6 Slide gearbox back to slide spigot shaft from clutch plate.
7 Slide gearbox from under vehicle.
Gearbox is now removed out.

How do i change o ring on clutch cable 2007 dyna

Drain your transmission fluid, because when you remove the trans release mechanism cover, the fluid will pour out if you don't!

I usually leave the clutch cable hooked up until I remove the bolts holding the cover on.
The reason is sometimes the cover is tight to get off, due to the locating dowels.
Once the bolts are removed, a couple of pulls of the clutch lever will pop it off.
Then loosen the clutch cable adjuster to get maximum play in the cable, and remove it from the lever end.
The end that goes into the clutch release mechanism cover unscrews (that's why there's a hex on the end, to put a wrench to).
Unhook the cable from the clutch release mechanism, and remove.
Replace o-ring, and reverse to reassemble, correctly adjusting clutch cable when done.

Forward or reverse will not engage - cluthch problem?

happened to me. found loose drive clutch cable. Adjustment bolt is just under the handlebar, attached to the cable. adjusting lock nut came loose and tension adjusting bolt spun out from vibration. retighten sleeve onto adjustment bolt and see if drive drive will engage. IF NOT.......look to other end of cable......UGH!

How do i change the clutch cable on 1987 fxlr

To change the clutch cable, find the clutch cable adjuster and slide the cover up or down so you can get to the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster barrel inwards to get as much slack in the cable as possible. Disconnect the cable at the handlebar lever. Drain the oil out of the transmission. Remove the bolts that hold the chrome endcap, clutch release mechanism cover, from the transmission. Look inside the transmission end cover and disconnect the clutch cable from the release mechanism. Note how the "hook" is positioned holding the cable to the release mechanism. Unscrew the clutch cable end from the end cover. While you are in this area, replace the clutch throw out bearing and retainer clip. Take note of the routing of the cable from the handlebar to the transmission. Replace the cable along with a new O-ring on the transmission end of the cable and install a new gasket. Torque the bolts to 100 inch pounds. Adjust the cable adjuster until you have about an 1/8" freeplay at the handlebar grip.

How do i adj clutch on a 01 gsxr 600

Where the clutch cable enters the gearbox, slacket the cable adjuster lock nut and screw the adjuster in toward the gearbox. On the handlebar grip, adjust the adjuster until about 8 turns are left or 1/4" of thread is showing. Unscrew the cable adjuster from the gearbox until there is just no slack left and tighten the lock net. Screw in the handlebar adjuster until there is about 1/4 inch of free travel at the little finger end of the clutch grip.

Clutch cable loose at the pedal-car lunged backward when I reconnected it

car will only lunge backwards if left in reverse gear.........regardless of clutch.....adjust cable at the gearbox end,so that you have 1" of freeplay on pedal.

Fitting clutch cable

Depending on the bike model you will need to get the tank off. Open the rear seat, unclip the front seat. Remove the pipes from the gas valve taking careful note of where they go. Unbolt the tank front and rear.(Some tanks only bolt at the rear and to remove you have to pick up the rear of the tank, then slide it bacward) At the gearbox end loosen the lock and adjusting nuts and unclip the cable. Take note of the cable routing. Route the new cable before removing the old one. Unhook the cable from the handlebar. If you have an adjustment nut at the handle bar end turn it in completely before adjusting the new cable. Take up the slack at the gearbox end and lock the nuts. Then do fine adjustments at the handlebar end.

To adjust the clutch, first find the clutch cable adjuster. It should be somewhere along the downtube of the frame in front of the engine. Slide the rubber bellows cover either up or down to expose the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster inwards shortening the cable as much as possible.

Remove the Derby cover from the primary cover. In the middle of the clutch assembly is an adjuster bolt and a lock nut. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjust inwards until you feel a resistance. Don't not force the adjuster, go inwards until you feel the resistance of the throwout bearing on the other side. Try it a couple of times until you get the feel of it. Go inwards until you feel the resistance and then come back out 1/2 to 1 full turn. Lock the lock nut down and replace the derby cover.

Then go back to the cable aduster and and adjust the cable adjuster out until you have about an 1/8" freeplay at the lever. Lock that lock nut down and reposition the bellows cover.

Loose clutch,leak on clutch cable next to gearbox,

if it is a hydralic clutch there is no adjustment. and if it is leaking on the transmission you need a new slave cylinder.

Wire clutch adjustment

dunno if that's backwards. Anyway: adjusted to just minimum sane play it barely engages with the lever fully in. If I would have to adjust the lever to any shorter position (for smaller hands) it would probably not engage fully. I understand there is an adjustment at the clutch arm down behind the gearbox. If I adjust there what will happen? I'm guessing I can wind that one in a bit then loosen the wire a bit. Will this solve the problem or will I be back at where I am now?,The arm only has limited travel, and there is a screw adjustment between the arm and the end of the clutch push-rod. Not sure what it is on the 1100s; it could be a hex headed bolt or an allen grub, but it's a bugger to get at because the swinging arm is so close. There's going to be some sort of locknut which will have to be slackened first. Make small adjustments, screwing in towards the 'box, and trying the clutch lever each time. ,,,
