SOURCE: Maytag Neptune Error COde "nd"

This is now the 3rd time this has happened. The 1st 2 times it cost me ~$100 to have a technician come in and fix.

This time, I did it easily. For my Maytag Neptune washer, I removed the back panel (2 screws). On the bottom tray is the water discharge pump. On the output side of the pump there is a small cavity under the rubber flapper where a nickle fits perfectly. I removed the nickle, reattached the output drain line. started it up ...

and viola! the problem solved.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
John C

I have a Samsung WA75B7PT washing machine. Having set wash cycle water runs continuously, going straight through, from tap to drain basically, machine never engaging?

Hi,
This can only be because the drain pump is constantly working. Otherwise the machine would literally fill-up with water.

Turn the machine off & unplug it for an hour.
Then turn it back on & see if it's reset or if it gives you an error code.

I'd suggest that it's probably a failed control-board, but it's unusual to not get a fault/error code from a modern machine, when it has a fault.
Best of luck.

I have a samsung 13kg diamond drum toploader, my problem is after selecting all relevent options to wash my clothes when the machine start washing the clothes it also drain some water out. My clothes end...

If the drain hose is pushed too far down the drain pipe, it will have a tendency to to siphon out. Only use 1 or 2 table spoons of detergent as the washer uses very little amounts of water. Read your instruction manual as it says the drain hose has to be higher than a certain height before it goes to the drain.

Samsung Washer, less than year old. Not every load and not every item but periodically something will come out with stains not previously on the item.

Hi,

This is common, if the machine does predominantly COLD washes.

Over a period of time, there is a build up of soap scum (washing powder/fabric softener etc) inside the machine, caused by using excess soap powder/detergent.

To recitfy this, fill the empty bowl (no clothes) with a solution of HOT water & CITRIC ACID (found in the baking isle of your grocery shop) on HI Water level. Set the machine to wash cycle, then drain.

Fill again with same solution, but leave solution inside the bowl overnight.

Drain next day, then follow with 1 single HOT wash (no clothes) on HI water level again.

The scum should be gone...

The hot flush should be done at least every 6 months, but this can be dramatically reduced if you use less soap powder (Samsung machines do not require as much powder, as do other machines)

Black type residue being left on clothes

Hi there,

This is a common problem on washing machines, if you predominantly do cold washes.

Over a period of time, a washing machine will accumulate a buildup of Soap Scum (excess soap & softener residue) which can stick to the inside of the drum.

This black coloured soap scum occasionally breaks away from the drum, and attaches to the clothing fabric during the wash cycle.

You can rectify this, by doing the following:

Firstly, purchase a packet of CITRIC ACID from your local grocery store (usually found in the baking isle).

Do the following procedure before going to bed:

1) Do a HOT WASH without clothes (Hi water level, with HOT water) - allow machine to fill with hot water, then add the CITRIC ACID to the water. Allow the machine to complete a FULL wash cycle (i.e. allow machine to agitate for 30 mins or so, then drain).

2) Fill the machine again with the HOT water / CITRIC ACID solution, but this time allow it to sit in the bowl overnight (no cycle).

3) Next morning, set machine to spin & drain (i.e. to empty the solution)

4) Set machine to fill with FRESH HOT WATER ONLY (no citric acid), then set machine to spin & drain. This will flush all remaining residue left in the bowl.

Note: Soap scum residue is caused by using excess detergent/fabric softener. Hot Water flushing should be done every 6 months.

Contrary to what the detergent manufacturers state, you should follow Samsung's instructions by using HALF the recommended detergent.

Samsung machines prefer LOW SUDS, and you may find by reducing the amount of detergent used, you may even eliminate the buildup of soap scum.

Which is better a top loader or front loader washing machine?

Front Loading Washing Machine: Fully automatic.
1. Better washing than toploading as technologically proofed.
2. No extra effort except putting cloths and detergent inside.
3. No need to observe in between while washing. Start and forgot. You can go market and come back.
4. No issue if electricity or water went out during washing.
4. Take more water compare to toploading semi-automatic.
5. You can not open it once it started.

Top Loading Washing Machine: Semi
1. Save water and detergent.
2. Need extra effort to put the cloth from one box to another.
