SOURCE: We have a Pentair 400 heater. First time to heat

You probally just need to increase your water flow. On the pipes going to the heater their should be a valve bridging the inlet and outlet pipes. This valve should be closed about 80-90% so it forces more water through the heater. I hope this helps.

My pentair intelliflo 011018 won't show me settings on led panel any more, but everything else is ok. Have to manually start and stop?

You will need to replace the drive. The drives are not an item that can be repaired. How old is the Intelliflo? Your pool guy should be able to help you with a replacement. If you are a DIY type person here are some links to replacement drives.

I would make sure that you call and confirm that you have a VF or a VS pump. F=flow and S=speed. Also make sure you do not have SVRS vacuum entrapment protection built in to the drive. If you do you'll need to contact Pentair directly.

Easy touch control system temperature set at 75 but heater does not change from manual setting

make sure the temp on heater is set at 104. otherwise easy touch panel wont override manual setting from the heater. if you press the mode button on easy touch panel, and it doesn't change, then one of the relays inside the panel is the problem

I have a pentair master temp 400 that is 3 years old. It is turning on by itself when the pool timers kick on. The temperature changes from say 54 degrees to 240 degrees. When changed from pool settings...

You heater has brain damage. I wish I had better info for you but this heater has been a consistent source of aggravation for pool techs.
Sta-Rite, a division of Pentair acquired about 12 years ago, manufactured the heater under the name MaxiTherm (and still does).

Pentair decided to make their own version of it and unfortunately they are hard to keep running. I don't know what they tweaked but they managed to wreck one of the best heater designs out there.

A tech can come out and change the malfunctioning parts but it won't be cheap, and very likely will have to service it again within a relatively short period of time.

I'd advise to get in contact with your local Pentair rep and see if you can get any credit toward the Sta-Rite version. For what these things cost you have to demand better performance.

Pentair Pool Heating Rapidly Increases Temp on Panel then shuts off.

Check the Thermal Reg in the header and also make sure you have adequate water flow thru the heater, make sure your filters are clean and there are no external by-pass valves open.
If you remove the Thermal Reg in the header and the heaters seems to run fine the replace with a new one.

Compool TimeMaster with this control panel Picture: Manually turning on or off pump/lights/spa all work, but the auto timers fail to start or stop any functions. Any ideas? ...

The first thing that I see is if you have a service panel, make sure that it is in "auto", not "service" and that all switches are set to off. That is the panel by the pool/spa, not the main panel.

We cannot program the system inside the house. It is showing ERR 4 - We need the manual to show us what to do. The motor number is Compool CP-3600.

Turning on the spa side remote will remove the error code.Pentair will send you a new manual if you ask for one.

Try turning the whole system power off at the main house panel, wait a minute, turn power back on, then go to the pool panel and reset communication as per manual instructions. This worked for me.

Periodic stop/restart

I had a similar problem for a year and spoke to the pump designer. We ultimately solved it as there was a spring valve in the heat pump I have. ANy type of spring valve is a problem for the intelliflo as the pump is tooo intelligent. When the spring opens and closes it makes the pump think that there is a blockage and it reacts by shutting off.

The solution is to replace all spring valves although I was able to use a manual valve just before the spring valve to reduce the flow so that the spring would not move and thus impact the pump.
