First you need to eliminate a failing hard drive as being a possible cause, then take it from there depending on the test result.
You'll need to make a boot CD containing the drive manufacturer's disgnostic software for DOS, then boot your PC from that CD.

Have you checked with Acer that your pc can accept Win 7.0?
if its not compatible then you may be floggin a dead horse with it, I doubt there will be many Win 7.0 drivers available yet for older systems but you may be lucky.

You can try using a different Operating system disc.. completely format the hard derive before reinstalling the Operating System..
