It's probably not the fan but the color wheel, Mitsubishi p/n# 938P030010
There is no recall on these but you may have had this set long enough that the software version is out of date... What you have there is a V34 chassis and the most current software version is 8.02 you can check this in your menu or have a tech do it when they come out and test for the color wheel failure.
The color wheel is best purchased at MDEA (Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America) but you can also call Tri-State Module back in Indiana 800-203-7484 and see if it's one of the models they support and can rebuild.
Hope this helps

TV just flashes different colors

I believe you may have defective capacitors on your power supply module. Many times you will find the capacitor has either popped it's top or top has swollen from the capacitor heating due to value changing.3_2_2013_3_44_40_pm.jpg

The fan intermittenly makes a noise and the color changes on the tv

You need to give model #. Most likely you have a dlp tv and its not the fan but the color wheel that spins at very high speed and creates correct colors on your screen. This color wheel makes noise when its bad and colors go off when its running at slower speeds. Its going to fail sooner or later as its going bad now. Its a professional job to change the color wheel and could cost you $280-320 depending on the model. Fan generally never make anoise that is loud enoug to be heard unless its blades are hitting some obstru ction. Color wheels make whining or in worst case screeching noise when bad. check out www.fixurtvs.com for more FAQs. Thanks if you voted for me.

TV will not power on.

I guess your TV is DLP.
Please notice the follow symthoms:
When you on TV, did you hear some strange noise from the back of the TV. If yes, the color wheel needs replacing.
If no, check the lamp. Take a look to bottom of lamp, you will see white pot or sometime a pop up there due to lamp cycle is going to end. When changing lamp, check the ballast and power sup, too. If you see caps are poping up. Pull out those board and replace the poped caps.
