Question about Heating & Cooling
The A/c man removed the back door of the unit and said it was starting to freeze up requiring 4.5 pounds of freon. He also cleaned the unit up. Several hours after he left, I started smelling a smell in the house like the heat was on. I checked he temperature and it was reading 72 with the thermostat set at 69. When he returned, the fan was not running on the heat pump outside. There was a pine needle preventing contact, removed the debris, and it starting running initially making a very loud rumble. He said he had never heard of a unit doing that. He said we needed to replace the unit. We can not afford a new unit. Please advise.
