SOURCE: central air conditioner doesn't cool

Usually when a unit isn't cooling it is because one there isn't enough freon in the unit. Second there could be a compressor gone bad. Third there could be a circuit short out. It can be very simple and it can be costly. It just needs to be checked out by someone who has understanding in this area.Look for an affordable service man or company in your area whom most people may be using to come out and check it out for you. They would be glad to. They can let you know about what it might cost also. If you have understanding in this area you might do it yourself. I do most everything myself and it keeps alot of money in my wallet. But I have to take the time to do it.

SOURCE: My Air Conditioner makes a loud buzzing noise now. It didn't do that before, now it makes so much noise I can't hear anything over it

Buzzing noise - contactor. maybe a bug got in the contacts or maybe the coil is bad but in any case if you replace the contactor the buzz will go away.

SOURCE: My air conditioner is on but not blowing cold air and buzzes

The compressor is not starting. The buzzing noise you hear is the compressor trying to start and then the thermal overload trips. When it cools it will try to start again. Could be a bad capacitor or the compressor is bad. These two units need to be tested to see which one is bad. A capacitor is inexpensive. If it's the compressor it will be cheaper to buy a new AC.

SOURCE: My central air conditioner makes a loud banging

no,check to make sure the pump is secured to frame, then stay by unit have someone turn the unit on and watch the pump.sounds like the pump is loose or a spring in side the pump has broken in which case would have to replace pump.

SOURCE: I need help with a buzzing sound in my air conditioner.

It is probably the compressor humming. They can make some funny noises especially on start for a while. If the unit is not cooling it may be the start capacitor or the comressor may be locked up.

Amana central air conditioner unit rce60a2a.fan not spinning.thermostat fine and breakers on.buzzing noise on outside unit.any reset buttons or any advice?thanks, ryan

I would say the Capacitor outside has failed and the bussizng would be the contactor trying to start the unit. If you are able to pull the capacitor and go pick one up at an electric motor place then that would be the cheapest way and they could test it first

There's a buzzing sound coming from my central air conditioner unit outside. The fan is quiet but I hear a buzzing sound. Should that be happening? Sounds like there's something loose.

Things that are not broken: The big relay that powers the compressor often hums or buzzes when the unit is running. Several brands of heat pumps keep their reversing valve "on" any time the thermostat is set for "cool". They buzz, too.

If something really is loose, the only way to fix it is to look at the machine and take off panels until you find what is buzzing.
