Put it on its own circuit. The electrical wiring in your house must be using the same power wire to power your T.V. as well as your garage door?

I have a LG 42PC5DC TV. There are continuous horizontal lines going through the picture. Any ideas of what is wrong?

Is there any other electrical or electronic devices near the TV? If there are, move them away from the TV and see if that clears up those lines. IT could be some kind of interference. Or if there are video games hooked up,,disconnect them also.

VW42L HDTV I have picture and sound but the picture is shaky and is flickering. It was fine this morning

Your TV is probably getting interference from electrical appliances that produce electromagnetic interference. These includes fluorescent lights and electric motors such as water pumps. Cars, motorcycles and other things the emits electromagnetic signal can interfere with your TV.
Check for any new electrical installations within 5 meter radius or any newly connected appliance on the branch circuit where your TV is plugged. Disable if there's any then operate the TV. If your TV is not mounted on the wall, try moving it to another location to check if this is the cause of the problem.

Interference

Hi there.

>Check your antenna - if you have a small bedroom TV set bring it front (or borrow one from a friend that has one) and plug the aerial in it. If picture has the same level of interference, it is the antenna. Outdoor antennas usually require professional servicing due to hazards associated.

>If the bedroom TV shows clear picture, next step is to remove the possibility that the TV set interferes itself - get a pair of plug-on ferrite cores (they look like a 1-inch long round barrel slashed in half until clipped on as one) and clip one on the power cord, as near the TV set as possible, and the other on the aerial cable, as near as possible to the tv set again. If problem persists post again.

Sanyo 32" television

Hi,

If the picture is OK with DVD and VCR, then perhaps the problem lies elsewhere other than the TV. It could either be your:
1. aerial antenna or
2. cable connection.

Aerials can re re-oriented/realigned to improve reception or reduce interference while the cable would require that you get in touch with your cable provider. In some instances cable problems could be loose connector at the back of the TV. Additionally, interference can be caused by other electrical/electronic devices. Past experience has shown me that even a 2-Stroke lawn mover/grass cutter has these effects.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

What you have described is definitely some form of Electrical Interference. Interference can come from a variety of causes. Is the Cable Inputting the Cable Box close to some High Voltage Electrical Lines? Or Are you located near some Electrical Power Station? Or A Police station, where the Radio Transmitter of the Police Station causing the Interference? As I said, there are a variety of reasons. Also, Try to check if the connector is loose at the rear of the Cable Box, or at the rear of the TV. You will have to eliminate every possibility reason. Wish i could help further.
