Why does (it) have very poor suction?

The filter can be clogged but look clean. Most models have two filters. Replace them both every few years.

My machine has suction at the port where the canister fits on the base, but immediately sounds clogged with no (or very little) suction going to wand or floor. All filters cleaned (accesible) and no clogs...

I will list the spots to check this vacuum for clogs. First see the first diagram I uploaded.

ironfist109_17.png

  1. First thing is to remove the canister.
  2. Then you will see in the diagram "A." Press that button and pull the hose up and check for blockages. Make sure to check for light through the hose to guarantee no blockages.
  3. Now tilt the vacuum forward and pull out the U Bend Airway and inspect it as well (3rd pic in diagram)
  4. Now squeeze the valve release catches to remove the airway and inspect the valve for blockages. (4th pic in diagram)

ironfist109_18.png

  1. The diagram above is the pre motor filter many forget to check.
  2. Press the filter release catch and pull the filter housing out.
  3. Remove the filter.
  4. Wash real good and let dry completely.

  • Now the one thing that tends to go bad on these vacuums is the automatic air flow adjuster. When the vacuum is upright the pathway for suction is automatically on the wand. After some good use the little disk in there snaps and the air flow stays restricted in what ever position the vacuum is in. I have contacted Dyson a few other time and they do not sell this part. It is a factory fix only or I would give you the instructions to do it yourself.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Has no suction

1. Remove dust collector compartment/s. Look for any filters, remove and clean. (Make sure you DO NOT clean filters with water.) Take filter/s outside and "slap" them against a flat surface. (Filter will be very messy to clean)
2. Replace all filters and compartments.
3. Also try using a wire hanger and try to reach as far down the hose as possible to remove any obstruction/s.

Note: Clean vacuum filters frequently to ensure proper suction.

Thehose has no suction

remove and clean the filter. you can use a air compressor to blow it out or use a brass wire brush and tap the filter on the table until it looks nice and clean,, this will return the suction to your vacume. also at the same time as you are cleaning the filter, check the hose for any blockage ( especially down by the floor sweeper where the hose kinda bends down into the unit ) -- when a filter is dirty and the suction is not that great, dirt loves to collect and compact in this spot,, use a wire coat hanger to fish out and clean any debris.

No suction coming from the bottom of the vacuum

9 times out of 10 there is a hose blockage at the point where the hose bends down to the floor. remove the suction hose and clean and clear any dirt build up inside the hose. also at this point it is a good idea to clean the filter. ( remove and brush out or use a air compressor to blow filter clean ).

Very little suction in hose no tears in hose

Hi there, SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au . I have fixed hundreds of Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaners over the last few years and i would say there are 2 possible causes for the loss of suction.
1st is that the filter looks clean but is actually worn anyway. The way to tell is remove the washable filter from your vacuum cleaner. Take out the foam insert this seems to last longer that the other part. Hold up the plastic cage to the light and look at the white part (well it used to be white anyway) you should be able to see light through it. If you cant see through it you need to replace it. Here is a link to that filter for purchase . To verify this is the problem just run the vacuum without the filter in you should see an improvement - note do not actually **** up material the filter is there for a good reason.
2nd problem is that you have a blockage in your radix assembly. If you take off the whole dirt bin and feel the suction on the upright part where the chamber joins the vacuum (basically bypassing the radix) if there is good suction here you will either need to replace the cyclone top or dismantle and clean it. (it is very difficult to clean as it doesn't completely dissassemble)
Hope this helps - If you want more help send me a message
HAPPY VACUUMING ! :)

Vacuum hose has little suction.

There is most likely a clog in the hose. If the hose has poor suction the foot probably has poor suction as well seeing that the hose is what gives the foot assy suction.

We have a Kenmore Stylite Retrax vacuum cleaner, brand new. Suction is not working properly.

I actually pulled back my old vac after using this thing. Having said that I have played around with it and one quick cure is the remove or clean the little circle sponge filter at bottom. If you remove the canister and look at the bottom of vac you will see where the air travels down through a small circle. In there is a sponge filter that is probably clogged. Now Being frustrated, I just removed it and the vac sucks like crazy now. There are just way to many filters to worry about. As mentioned you need to clean the top main filiter, then the top sponge filter, and then dont froget there is alson one in the front of the machine (square paper filter) that catches dust leaving vac. These are on top of the little circle one that I removed, so I dont think it will be missed. Try and see what you think.

Hoover eite rewind vacuum has blocked airflow, how do i fix?

Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then the blockage is in the hose, unhook the hose and dig out the debris, if hose isn't blocked, then clean out the filters, if they get clogged, then air can;t flow thru them and you won't have suction. If you have suction at the end of the hose, then it is clogged down in the nozzle asm. there is an inlet by the brush roll and it comes up to where the hose plugs into. Clean the clog out.
