Question about Microwave Ovens

2 Answers

I am trying to find a wiring diagram. I'm repairing the oven for charity. The lockout switches were screwed up and are now fixed, but it was dismantled when I got it. Thanks, Mike

If this is a counter top micro, look at the inside of the outer case/shell. Most companies glued a diagram on the inside of the outer case. If one that hangs on the wall over the range. Look directly behind the control panel or sometimes in an envelope in the top front behind the top grill assembly.

Kenmore built in microwave - f9 error

F9 is indeed a door switch error.

I would suspect that if the switches are good, a couple of wires may be reversed on them, or maybe one of the door switch mounts is broken.

There may be a wiring diagram in the oven, either pasted to the cover, or folded and stored behind the control panel.

If you can supply the actual model number (not 636xx, etc.) I can try to find a wiring diagram.

wiring diagram will be difficult. You must search on internet by try to get some one.
You must test the input voltage for to see if there are voltage, test the fuse or c.breaker for open or faulty and replace or repair. and try again. However will be a Great idea, if your Resolder all the colder union PCB from oxide, bad contacts.etc., and try again.
God bless you

Kitchenaid trash compactor bought in 2000; no model/serial number found. Compactor was stuck in partial down position; worked the drawer out and found cotton fibers wadded/stuck at top of the up/down...

at the top, above the ram, there are two switches. One is the reversing switch (should have 4 wires), the other is the stop switch (2 wires). I suspect that the switch arm is bent, due to what you just described, and fails to activate the switch to stop the motor when the ram is at the top position.

I was using my microwave...pushed the button to stop it...door opened..but it was still running. Did this three times then unplugged it. Help

That is not good at all! The safety lockout switch on the door is supposed to stop the microwave from doing this. This is rather dangerous and you can cause permanent eye damage with just a few seconds exposure.

Do not use this microwave again until you get it fixed by a repair shop. It may be cheaper to buy a new one than repair this.

I think I have a bad door swtich on a frigidaire microwave

un plug the oven, un screw the screws and remove the cover, look behind the door where it closes and you will see a micro switch, and two wirers, note where the wires and screw is located and remove them. get a replacement switch NOTE!! make certain that it is the same type of switch ie. normaly open or nomaly closed. carry the switch you to get the replacement. replace the switch and the wires. if you want to verifry that the switch is defective you can have it tested when you go to the spares store to obtain the new one.

Frigidare microwave fmv156dcf:Timer and light work but no heat,

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" (wiring diagram) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you don't find yours, or if you want to look at it without disassembling the oven, you can download it here.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

Wiring diagram Problem - Maytag MMV5207A 1100 Watts Microwave Oven

If it is the magnetron cooling fan, it should be a one-speed type.

Assuming your AC line power is correct (110-125VAC) then the fan may be bad, or there may be a problem with the relay on the control board or indeed a bad connection in the wiring.

The way I would test it is to disconnect the fan and the connect a line cord directly to it.

I've uploaded the wiring diagram to my site at:

If you think it's the control board, we repair these for $39.95 in most cases.

Wiring diagram Problem - Maytag MMV5207A 1100 Watts Microwave Oven

This doesn't have the diagram hidden away somewhere inside? Check at the bottom edge of the control panel, transformer brack, or rear of the oven. Otherwise, you can find wiring diagrams of earlier models that may be close enough. Just enter your model number here:
