I have had the same problem and today I found the solution. I removed the baffles in my front load LG washers and there was the problem....... Mold in and under baffled. It was getting onto my clothes where baffles and tub meet. The problem occurred during the high spin cycle. I am sure the mold and gunk was spinning out from under the baffles onto the clothes

A buildup of detergent residue can occur in the wash tub over time and can lead to a mildew or musty smell even black particles.
The TUB CLEAN cycle is specially designed to remove this buildup. Press and hold the EXTRA RINSE button for 3 seconds to activate this cycle. The display will show a message to add liquid bleach to the dispenser. After the cycle has ended, open the door and allow the drum interior to dry completely.
NOTE: Do NOT use this cycle with clothes, and do NOT add detergent or fabric softener.

Make sure the washer is level, especially front to back. Do not overload washer. Check to see if marks are coming from build up of gunk in the outer bowl.

Lg washer leaving black greasy marks on clothes

This is usually to do with fabric softener. Dilute it with more water. The fabric softener makes clots, and these make the marks on your clothing.

Hope it helps

Brownish streaking on clothes even after cleaning the gasket.

The dryer has felt strips on the front that the drum rubs on. When the felt wears out there is room for clothes to get between the drum and the felt which puts the burnt looking streak on them. Remove the front panel to access the front of drum and the felt guides.

My clothes smell musty after they have been washed. I was told to replace the rubber gasket in our Kenmore front loader he4T by the sears repairman for quite an expense. How can I replace this gasket...

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the hose you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.

Next: You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use quite hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Have you cleaned out your pump lately. Put the pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.
Pl give me a good rating for the free help, thanks.

Brown streaks on clothes

Are the streaks on smaller pieces of clothing (socks, etc.)? If so, the clothing item might be getting caught inside the rubber gasket around the door, and getting the streak from there. Try cleaning inside the fold of the rubber gasket very well, and often and see if it keeps happening.

Front loader washing machine = black streaks on clothing

I am a recently retired engineer of 20 years once you have ruled out anything getting inside the machine by accident etc, like something in pockets or greasy overalls, then its likely to be the drum bearings, has the machine started to get noisy on the spin the drum bearings are covered by a rubber seal, this seal gets damaged or worn and water leaks into the bearings themselves washing out the grease back into the drum where the washing is, you could also notice slight water marks on the floor underneath the machine on the floor, take the back off and look for water marks coming from the drum outer casing behind the pulley, these marks will be brown and will originate from a small drain hole, if any of the above change the bearings before any real damage is done, either to the clothes or the machine, as repair can be expensive? sorry, hope i have helped you as to where to look at least,

Brown streaks on clothes

Check an earlier post of mine. This problem was killing me and Whirlpool was of no help at all. They claimed to never have heard of these thin brown streaks. Well, it was the dryer and as proof, I found where the thin brown lines were coming from. The felt had worn out in one spot allowing thin, whites and other thin items to slide in between the drum and the backing, resulting in the transfer of a thin brown line randomly on my clothes. Replace the felt (rollers and bearings if necessary) and with the drum apart, clean off the burnt brown streak of the backing with Simple Green. No more problems.
