Question about Westinghouse Televison & Video
This is model DW39F1Y1. I see the mainboard but not much else after removing back panel.

It is the little long board mounted on the side of the monitor. you can identify it by tracing the thick pink and white wires from the LCD panel to a little board that looks like it has some tiny coils on it.. you will see some little wires on one side and those pink and white wires on the other. It amplifies the voltage to drive the fluorescent lamps. Usually the lamps are what go bad instead of the board though,, go the other direction and look at the lamp tubes to see if they are black on the end.

Are you talking about the back-light inverter? If so, some models of LCD TVS; the back-light inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel.

SOURCE: removing base from tv
I researched this problem on the net and found the solution. Someone on one of the posts said the base can be removed by taking out four screws - all from the back of the TV. One screw is the one closest to the power plug, the next screw is beside it, the remaining two screws are the corresponding screws on the opposite side of the base panel (still on the back of the TV). Once these screws are removed the base comes off including the mounting bolt and the rectangular shaped plastic panel. There are no electronics or any components inside the base panel, only the bolt and plastic base which are held on by the four aforementioned screws. It was very easy to remove!

I had this problem with these tv`s. The problem actually lies with the power supply inside the unit. Some of the units i`ve seen have 2 blown capacitors on the power supply (C7 and C6) replacing these works. On others, the capacitors as well as a few transistors (Q8 - Q1) are blown. But on all the sets i have seen with this problem, changing the above components restores full functionality to the system.

remove all the screws and start at the bottom and push in the tabs, and work around the edges, being careful not to pry too hard, the cover has clips all around the tv. after the bottom is free and one of the corners the cover will kind of pop off if you use the palm of your hand and lightly tap as you apply sum upward pressure.
