Did you try ScanPST? It is included with MS Office. I now have office 2013, and here's its path:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15
Just go into your version of Office, which I believe is 12, so:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
You version of Office is old enough that there is a free tool available. I'll check my PC and get back to you on its name and where to find it.
Here's some more info, but so far I have not found the free tool I had on my system. I always archive that stuff, so I should have it by tomorrow.
Here is a good support page. Half way down is a section on Method 2, where the PST file is larger than 2GB (in which case it would SEEM corrupted).
It has a link to cut the file into two if necessary.
