How do you disassemble a delonghi portable air conditioner to replace the plastic fan squirrel cage?

The plastic fan inside my delonghi portable AC unit starting making a loud racket. I opened the back and saw the plastic fan was broken. I can order the part online but am not sure how to open the metal fan enclosure to get to the fan. Thanks!

    youtube has no videos of the case removal just repair videos after the case was opened... useless info

SOURCE: Whirlpool portable AC, compressor works, but no exhaust fan

This is a single speed permanent split capacitor motor for the condenser. One of the capacitor wires shows infinite resistance to hot and netral. The motor needs to be replaced.

How do i remove the squirrel cage type blower fan.
Most fans of this type have a cover between the motor and the actual fan. The cover is usually metal, sometimes plastic and usually has 4 or more screws holding it down. Remove the screws and the fan and cover will come out as one assembly (Sometimes there's a rubber seal between the cover and the housing that may be sticky you may have to gently pry up around the cover to free it from the base its screwed down to). To remove the motor you need to remove the squirrel cage from the shaft, then the cover can be removed and the motor replaced.

Why does my ac freeze up
Hello, air conditioners will freeze either due to low airflow.....such as dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, weak or not running blower motor. Also, a low refrigerant charge can cause the unit to freeze up.

Delonghi Pac-C110 air conditioner The compressor is overheating and shutting down but works fine when running. There is a slight squeaky noise when running that seems to come from the squirrel cage...
The overheating & squeaking may be a result of a blockage in the exhaust hose. Or the exhaust hose has to much of a downward slope. Also, try cleaning the air intake filter. It may be clogged.

Those squirrel cage fans have a habit of coming apart, or getting dirt in them and going out of balance...then they wobble and hit the sides of the fan housing...
Make sure the fan is clean and also move it around a bit to make sure it is not coming apart....
Often the only way to fix them is too replace the sqirrel cage part...

You can buy a new squirrel cage just take the pieces with you and the model and ser# . I deal with Bakers but there are all wholesalers of A/C parts.

ARE YOU TRYING TO REPLACE THE MOTOR OR THE FAN BLADES. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE TWO SET SCREWS FROM THE SHAFT AND PULL THE MOTOR OFF THE SQUIRREL CAGE

Running not blowing air
sounds as if fan isnt attached to motor shaft. There is a set screw on the fan cage that if it loosens the shaft will turn inside of the fan not turning the fan( also known as a squirrel cage) You need to get access to the fan motor and see first if its shaft is rotating, if it is see if the squirrel cage is turning if not the set screw located on the inner collar of the squirrel cage needs to be tightened. Thie set screw is more than likly an allen set screw.

If the blower is made of plastic it does not have a set screw. You most likely need a new squirrel cage. They are formed to the shaft and have a compression ring that holds them in place.
