What is the difference between a RF channel and a virtual channel? The RF channel is the channel that the TV station uses to broadcast its signal. Before the conversion to digital, TV stations were normally identified by their channel number, and most people knew that a particular network was on a specific TV channel. While analog broadcasting was being phased out and all TV stations were converting to digital broadcasting, it was necessary for the TV stations to continue to broadcast their analog signals on their original RF channels, and also broadcast their digital signals on a different RF channel. However, since the TV station used their broadcast channel as part of their identification, they wanted to keep using the same channel number. To allow this to happen, the new digital television broadcasting standards (ATSC) provided TV stations the ability to continue to use their original channel number and also tell the TV set to tune to the new RF broadcast channel when their virtual channel number was selected. The original channel number is called the virtual channel number, and it will be followed by a period and a second number (3.1, 7.1, etc.).
One of the benefits of converting to digital for the TV stations is that they now have the ability to transmit more than one program at the same time on the same RF channel. The number of additional channels they can broadcast is determined by the resolution of the program (SD vs. HD, text only, music only, etc.). The second number in their virtual channel number indicates that one of the additional programming sources from the same TV station is being viewed (10.2, 10.3, 10.4, etc.).
When selecting an antenna, it is important to understand the difference between the RF broadcast channel and the virtual channel. Antennas are designed to receive specific ranges of RF channels, and the antenna needs to be selected for the RF channel you wish to receive. TV stations broadcast in two broad frequency ranges, called VHF and UHF. RF channels 2 through 13 are considered VHF, and RF channels 14 through 51 are considered UHF. In order to pick up the channels, the antenna has to be designed for the correct frequency range. It is very common today to find that TV stations using virtual channels 2 through 13 are actually using RF broadcast channels in the UHF range. Although not as common, some TV stations using virtual channels 14 through 51 are actually transmitting in the VHF range. An antenna designed for only UHF channels will not work effectively for RF broadcast channels in the VHF range, and an antenna designed for only VHF channels will not work effectively for RF broadcast channels in the UHF range.

Sanyo vwm390 vcr

That might be the TV output channel. I found these instructions in a Sanyo manual:
How to set the DVD+VCR's RF output channel 1. Set the TV to the VCR channel (3 or 4) depending upon the selected channel. 2. When the DVD+VCR is turned off, press and hold CHANNEL (V/v) on the front panel for more than five seconds. It will turn itself on and "RF03" or "RF04" appears in the dis-play window. 3. Press CHANNEL (V/v) on the front panel or CH/TRK(v/V) on the remote control to change the RF output channel (CH 03 or CH 04). 4. Turn off the DVD+VCR.

It might solve the problem!

How do you tune cb radio 75wx st

Not sure what you mean by tune.

If you mean peak and tune, where in you increase the internal power output of the radio, then the quick and dirty way of doing it is, turn VR4 all the way to the left and take the tank slug out of L14. HOWEVER, I prefer to use a watt meter on avg power to adjust L14 to peak, and no more as not to over bias the final. But typically nothing will happen if you do. This will give you full modulation, and full carrier.

If by tune you mean, Tuning the SWR. Then that is a whole different topic.

In this case you don't actually tune the radio. You tune the antenna. If the antenna is not the correct length, relative to the wave length, Frequency of transmission..... then you will have a high SWR and this means more of your RF energy is not leaving the antenna, and going back into the radio. This is bad. this kills radios.

So to tune it you must make the antenna the right length. Here is how to check SWR.

Tune the radio to ch 20. Put the rf/SWR/CAL switch to CAL.
Turn the CAL knob all the way to the left.
Key the radio, and turn the CAL knob to the right until the needle of the meter is at the CAL mark, on the top line of the meter indicated by a little upside down triangle. That is the cal mark. The needle should be on it.
Flip the RF/SWR/CAL switch to SWR while holding the key down.

The meter is now showing your SWR. If it is under 2 you are not real good, but not gonna kill the radio. If you are 1.5 or less you are good to go. Ideally you want to be 1.5 or less if you can.

If it is over 2 you should try to get it lower.

here is how to find out if the antenna is too long or too short.

Turn to ch 1, repeat the steps to check SWR. Then do the same thing on ch 40. Compare the reading. If the reading is higher on 1 then on 40 the antenna is too short, and you need to make it longer. If it is higher on 40 then 1, it is too long and you need to make it shorter.

All antennas have a way of adjusting the length.

Hope this helps.

I need a schematic for a RF p300-1 amp. Im trying to replace 2 of the mosfet semiconductors that got fried.

There are no schematics for RF amps, normally RF uses standard IRF Mosfets. Can you decribe the area where they blew, Power Supply are usually N-Channel high current type. Outputs can be either N-Ch or P-Ch depending on the Power rail there attached to.

I am trying to connect a DVD player to a RCA F25216BC 25" TV - the TV only has an F type Coax connector and does not have a CH 3 or 4 switch - I put the input from the wall to the DVD player and out to the...

Your TV must be equipped with AV inputs (RCA jacks - yellow, white, red)
in order to connect this unit. If your TV does not have AV inputs, you will need a RF Modulator to connect the DVD recorder to your TV's
antenna/cable input. RF Modulators are available at
major electronics retailers such as Radio Shack or Wal-Mart and allow the 3 RCA outs from the recorder to connect to the RF modulator RCA inputs and then you can connect a coaxial cable from the modulator to the TV RF input and select channel 3 or 4 on the TV. The DVD recorder will not pass thru signals to the TV using coaxial cable as far as DVD are concerned.

What is RF CH used for?

RF is used for Radio Frequency on your Qam tuner to break it down its the tuner like cheel 1-99 or 1-125 or digital RF clear Qam tuner so RF is your tuner respectivly. You would use this when you have a OTA over the air antenna or sraight cable meaning from wall outlet to tuner not wall outlet to cablebox.

I hope this clears up the meaning.

Plays on wrong channel

ok i downloaded and read your DVR-1000 manual , this is what you will do .

While the DVD+VCR is turned off, press and hold CHANNEL (up/down) button on the front panel for about five seconds.

The unit will turn itself on and “RF 03” or “RF 04” appears on
the front panel display

Use CH ( up / down ) button on the front panel or CH ( up / down ) button on the remote control to change the RF output
channel (CH 03 or CH 04).

Turn the DVD+VCR off and then on

Set the TV to channel 3 or 4 depending on the RF
output channel you selected.
Now you can watch the DVD+VCR playback on CH3
or CH4 of your TV

PS , you should see a child lock button on the remote , if you press that button , you will disable front panel button controls so kids can't change anything , press it again to unlock that feature , it might come in handy.

Thanks for using Fix Ya .

Not able to scan stations

I don't understand why you would bother to scan channel when you have directv or dishnetwork???
directv or Dishnetwork required their units in order to watch any channel, which means:
A. Depending on your TV setting,if you use RF connection from your basic directv to the tv,you would have to leave the TV on Ch.3 or Ch.4.to view the rest of the channels, you have to change it from the directv or dishnetwork box. You are NOT able to scan the rest of the channels from the TV,bottom line!!
If you have comcast or your local cable provider, once you have activated, you could use the RF signal coming out from the wall plate straight to the tv and go to TV auto programming,it will auto scan the available channels for you.
Don't waste your time on directv.
If you are thinking about recording from your BASIC directv or dishnetwork box, you would connect SAT. signal from the wall plate to the directv box, then use composite video/audio output and connect straight to your VCR/DVD player under composite video/audio input. Now you could record the viewing channel to the VHS.
Good luck!

Audio problem with NES

try switching both the tv and the rf switch to ch.4, if that doesn't help make sure that there is nothing connected to the in port on the rf switch and try it again, also make sure the connector of the rf switch has a straight pin and not bent too badly, also make sure the pin does not look tarnished/corroded in any way, also check the connector at the end that connects to the nes, i would try changing the rf adapter before the console, if the power cord is in good shape everything else should be easy to find a replacement for. if you hae a snes try changing the rf adapters, or try using rca type cables, the out ports are on the side of the nes and most likely on the back or front of your tv.
