Hp compaq 6200 not starting

A few things can go wrong when you are performing a computer upgrade of any kind, because during an upgrade, you remove and install parts, and it's easy for something to come loose, which may prevent the computer from starting.

Open the computer case, unscrew the video card and lift it out.

Make sure you move any release tabs before getting the video card out.

Put the video card back in place.

Check the nearby components, and make sure everything, especially the memory, is securely in place.

Close the cover and try to start the computer.

If it still doesn't start, replace the new card with the old card and check again.

If the computer starts with the old card, the new card is likely bad.

If it doesn't start with the old card, you may have shorted out the power supply and need to replace the power supply, but this is rare.

The hardware that you are trying to access is damaged or failing.

The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible.

There is a connection problem such as a bad cable

for internal hard drives

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a

secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat 40pin ide

this will be the first to fail

Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty

or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error.

Hope this helps

When i oipen my desk top- my monitor block no display

This can be caused by a bad video card, a bad power supply, or a bad monitor.
I would first make sure the computer is actually starting up (listen for the fans and the hard drive).
Then try another monitor. If you get something on the display, then the monitor is bad.
If that doesn't work, and your monitor is normally fastened to the port at the back of the computer right near the USB ports and the network port, then your motherboard has probably gone bad.
There is a way to further check, though: Open the case and disconnect everything but the CPU and video and memory (take the cables off of the CD/DVD and the hard drive.)
Now try to start it. Still no video? Then you are looking at a motherboard problem.
One exception to this is if you have an add-on video card. You can tell by looking at the slots on the motherboard. If there is a card in one of them that the video fastens to, then I would suspect that that video card has gone bad and will have to be replaced.

Acer Aspire 5732Z won't turn on - the light comes on for a few seconds and then turns off - whilst the light is on the disk drive will open - the screen doesn't show anything

Could be bad ram, hard drive or possibly a bad display panel or video card.Try using different ram and removing the hard drive then try it.Also, connect it to an external display and see if it shows video or not.If after trying these things it still isn't showing let me know and i'll try to help more.

I have a Compaq Presario SR2020NX. I press the power button and the fan comes on, the green light is bright , the cd drive blinks then stops as if the computer is starting but nothing happens. The fan...

Disconnect the drive and try to boot to the BIOS (usually with F1, F2 or Delete key). If that doesn't work, try removing all cards from the computer (except a video card if the video port is not on the motherboard). If you can boot this way, try inserting back any removed cards to see what hangs it. Do you hear any beeps when the computer is booting (beep codes)?

We dropped our WII down a few stairs. It turns on, but doesn't read the disc.

Well it's possible that you just plain out broke your disk drive?

You could try softmodding your wii to play games off a hard drive or sd card. but it is a somewhat difficult process and will take some time.

otherwise you could probably get it repaired by nintendo.

good luck

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty:

Playing a downloaded film with HDMI cable to my TV set Sony Bravia, after 10 minutes the colour on tv set disappear or change. Do I need a certain drive on my computer for HDMI

If it was playing the video fine initially, there should be no reason for that to change. Most likely the video card on the laptop is overheating or dying, which results in the change in colors. I fix laptops at my computer repair shop, and most are HP Pavilion DV6000 and DV9000, and they are notorious for having bad video chips on the motherboards. If it is still under warranty I would back up your data from the hard drive then send it in to HP to have fixed or replaced. If it isn't under warranty I would try to connect your tv using just a VGA cable, and see if the same thing happens. If it does, you have a bad video card. If it doesn't happen then you may still have a bad video card, it's just that the VGA signal isn't as high powered/high resolution so your card doesn't get pushed hard enough to malfunction. Try the VGA cable and let me know how it works.

PC boots up, but no display and hard drive does not seem to spin

Actually you do want to hear one beep.
This is POST. Power On Self Test.
No display is a video problem. Swap the card for a known good video card. You should be able to get into the BIOS with that. Presario’s are quit.
While in the BIOS see if the HDD is shown. It doesn’t hurt to check the connection inside. Please keep yourself grounded when inside the PC. For the Compaq Presario S4020WM site go here:
