Find your local camera shop and take to them. Get an estimate just to be sure the repair cost is lower than the cost of replacement.

52mm lens stuck on body,,how do you unstick it?

Normally, these lenses do not 'unscrew'. When you push the red button, it releases the lens catch and then you rotate the lens a short ways counterclockwise, then gently pull forward on the lens while holding the body of the camera and the two units separate. It is possible you have gotten some dirt into the lens latching mechanism. Try returning the lens to the locked position, press the red button, rotate the lens to where it stops and then returning the lens to the locked position and repeat several times if the lens does not lift out when you hit the movement stop. This may allow you to get past the dirt. Otherwise, take it to a camera shop, particularly if the camera is still under Canon warranty.

Lens stuck in the out postion

Hi,

Did you try taking out the batteries out for a few hours to reset the camera? Did you eliminate the possibility that the batteries can be the cause of your problem?

Sony lens 18 - 70 got stuck and it is unable to zoom

Due to the tight tolerances inside the lense mechanism - small bits of sand or lint may become trapped in the mechanics.

It is advised to take the camera to a camera repair shop and have it disassembled and cleaned.

There are many small parts and intricacies that will render it totally useless if not done properly.

Lens is stuck and will not retract

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

Lens stuck in the extended position

i don't think the lens mechanism can be repaired, it may need to be replaced, usually for about 50% of what you bought the camera for. there is a company in new york that carries parts for small digital consumer cameras like this : Camera Repair NYC

Lens is stuck between 45 and 55

Have you removed the lens -- I suspect that you may have same thing that I do - I want to get Nikon to realize that they have a design flaw and provide free replacement or repairs (suspect repair uneconomical so replacement likely)-- there is plastic part at the base of the lens that can crack off. It did on mine when I was trying to get it to change focal length. This part can rotate and completely obscure the lens, but can be easily rotated back into the clear position if you remove, rotate the part and then replace the lens. My lens also no longer functions with auto focus and it locked in telephoto mode - it has changed the way I take photos and made it rather difficult on my last day in Las Vegas (discouraging me from going to top of Eiffel Tower or The Stratosphere since the pictures would not be very good). I am looking for others with this same problem. Maybe we can band together.

Lens stuck/lens error

Hello

there are tiny plastic gears inside and may have chipped or a small piece of sand got in causing the lens to jamb. "very fragile"

one solution is to ask a camera repair shop how much a lens mechanism would be to replace. (if cost is more than 1/2 of what you paid dont bother)

another solution is to have someone sell your camera on an auction site for parts, to make some money towards another camera purchase

Camera of this type are generally considered-'consumable'
Like small electronic or computer parts repairs are not economic or 'spares' provided
but- contact the maker support site for confirmation

The lens cover wont open

If debris like sand or dirt get into the mechanism which closes that cover it will jam shut. Try gently placing something pointy in the gap between the two blades of the cover. Do not force them apart, if this is going to work they should free with very little pressure. Be very careful not to touch the lens especially if you are using something metal to separate the cover.
