Where does the pink praking brake wire go on 2003 cadillac deville go


Where are you seeing this pink wire ? I'm looking at a wiring diagram and I see a pink wire at the (RIM) rear integration module . It goes to the park brake relay A ,control side . The RIM supply's a ground on that circuit energizing the park brake relay A . There is another park brake relay - B . Are you familiar with the RIM module .
The park brake system is a mechanical and electrical system which operates on the rear disc brakes. The system is activated by depressing a foot pedal lever assembly, which sets the rear brake caliper via cables. The park brake is released by shifting the vehicle out of park or activating the manual release.

Park Brake Release
The rear integration module (RIM) controls the operation of the electric release park brake. The RIM uses serial data messages to determine if the correct conditions exist to release the park brake. The park brake is released under the following conditions:
• The engine is ON.
• The gear shift lever is not in Park or Neutral.
• The park brake switch is closed.
When all of the above conditions exist, the RIM releases the park brake by simultaneously activating the 2 park brake solenoids. After 2 seconds, the RIM deactivates solenoid A. The RIM continues to activate solenoid B while the above conditions exist, which prevents the park brake from being set.

How do I release an engaged parking brake when the cable I usually pull to release the brake is broken?


I should have disengaged when it broke if not it is jammed some where and not releasing so raise the rear and follow the brake cable to the rear axle and remove cable try rotating wheels if no joy remove wheels and tap brake drums and try rotating drums if still no joy try stripping brake system down on rear axles to free up internals

If releasing the parking brake does not get the rear wheels to release, then you either have a parking brake cable that is badly corroded and sticking, or you have internal problems in the rear brakes like broken springs, etc that are jamming the brakes. You will have to inspect your rear brakes and paking brake cables to find out which it is.

You should be able to pull on the parking brake cable and get movement easily. It depends on if your Caravan is equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes or if it is equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes. If it has 4-wheel disc, then you could also have a bad rear caliper.

I have a 96 isuzu rodeo,3.2 and the brakes will lock up on their own, gradually then it takes about 15 minutes for them to release, any thoughts?


this could be caused by a few things, first you need to jack the truck up you will need all 4 wheels off the ground, put the transmission in neutral and have some one get in the truck and wile turning each wheel have the person in the truck push the brake pedal the wheel should stop instantly then have the person release the brake the brake should release instantly,( do this to each wheel ) if all brakes remain locked ( wont release instantly ) then replace the master cylinder if the both rear brakes wont release instantly replace the brake hose from the frame to the rear differential, if the both front brakes wont release replace master cylinder, if only one front brake wont release open the bleeder on that brake caliper if the wheel releases replace the caliper hose if the brake still wont release with the bleeder open replace the caliper, you should replace the caliper and brake hoses as a pair.

Brake release handel wire broken


This wire feeds from the Brake Release to a "Y" (viewed from the bottom with the front pointed down) configuration under the car that splits to go to each rear brake assembly. You do not have to disconnect the wires from the brakes, just from the point where the wire from the brake release meets the "Y" part. it is generally a type of wide and curved hook to grab the rear wires and pull it forward to engage the brakes. Release the brakes making sure that the car is in park or in gear so that it doesn't roll., take the "hook from the rear wire and the brake release inside the car. I always TAPE securely the wire from inside the car to the end that needs to go through the hole to the rear wire and pull the new one with the old one. It works for me, it is sometimes more difficult than easy, but it usually works if you make sure that snags are delt with before you pull the rear end of the new wire from the front part of the old one.

I but a new handbrake cable on my 99 transit and shoes and the handbrake pulls up to far


Ensure parking brake is fully released.
Place transmission in Neutral.
Raise and support vehicle.
Tighten cable equalizer adjusting nut until rear wheel brake drag is felt when spinning rear wheel by hand.
Loosen cable equalizer adjusting nut until rear brakes are fully released.
Spin rear wheels and ensure there is no brake drag. Lower vehicle, and check parking brake operation

Mustang parking brake won't release tension on rear brakes


since the new pads are alot thicker than the old ones,the brake needs to be set properly.
something is not right for sure.
the retainer for the park brake cable may be not in the right spot.there is two places it can fit.

The automatic (vacuum) release-type is standard equipment on all vehicles. The automatic vacuum-type parking brake system contains the following features:
  • A parking brake release control motor (2A843) with mounting bracket bolted to the parking brake control .
  • The vacuum-actuated diaphragm within the parking brake release control motor which is connected by a rod to the upper end of the parking brake release vacuum hose (2B653) .
  • The parking brake release vacuum hose which connects the parking brake release control motor to the engine manifold through a vacuum release switch at the steering column tube (3514) .
  • The parking brake release control motor which is actuated to release the parking brake whenever the engine is running and the transmission is in a forward-driving gear.
  • The automatic parking brake control which has a manual release feature that releases the foot parking brake control by applying force to the parking brake control pedal in the "apply" direction to the point of initial application.
  • The parking brake control will return to the full-release position after removing the force.

Releasing Parking Brake


adjust the park brake cable first (3 pedal clicks and brake should start to engage the rear wheels) then lube the park brake ratchet release parts (under the dash) with WD40, this should take care of the problem.
