I have a Whirlpool oven model number SB130PER-0 the oven will not heat up also when i turn the oven on the indicator light does not come on. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR APPLIANCE before beginning any service procedure.
You may have an bad heating element that would needs replacing because that is the heat source for the oven and on the oven light issue you nay have a bad sending unit , switch or just a burnt out bulb or light. Check with your local Whirlpool appliance dealer – sometimes they can be of some help. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local appliance dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: My professional series oven preheats and then stops heating.

HI, there may be some issues within the dual safety gas valves. they mat be malfunctioning. these valves control the gas flow and if the shut prematurely, it will disrupt the heating process. You could also have a sensor issue as well but, im sensing that this abnormal shutdown is being cuased by a fualty Dual oven safety valve assembly.

Please rate and god bless:)

SOURCE: Oven lights ,but doesn't heat to preset temperature

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/gasoventroubleshootvideo.html this will walk you thru the correct procedure for performing this test. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

SOURCE: have a kenmore electric range

You will want to "kill" power to the oven for at least 20 minutes to see if it will reset the unit. The easiest way to do this is to either just unplug the oven for a while, or even easier is just to flip the circuit breaker switch that goes to the oven's circuit.

If after doing that and switching it back on you find the light is STILL on then something in the control board of the oven is malfunctioning. If everything appears to work fine otherwise and the only problem is the light stays on, then it is probably not worth the cost of the repair to fix the control board just for a simple light to go off - unless it is really bothering you. But if other things are acting up and that light won't go off, then you will want to replace the control board in the oven, or have someone do this repair for you.

Thanks so much,
Tim

Kenmore range stopped working after self clean cycle

It will help to know the model number from the oven, but F2 usually indicates a failed temperature sensor on most ovens. If this is the case on yours, it will have to be replaced for the oven to operate again.
Post back with the number and I will see if I can help.Thanks/Mike

How do I fix the oven heat indicator light on kenmore c970 665621

If you are talking about an electronic digital display type control that is dim, most likely the only way to fix it is to replace it. Most electronic control units are not repairable in that sense.

My Kenmore Electric Range model 790.9661 seems to have a control board problem. Before replacing the $200 part, just wanted to make sure it was the problem. The clock works, but the oven temperature side...

From your description it sounds that the board is the problem. I found the control panel you need for a lot less than $200 though.
I found one online from a store that I have bought from many times. Part and shipping is about $153. They sell brand name stuff too and they have great service. I hope that this helped you.

Replace the glowbar ignitor in the oven. Turn off the gas supply. Remove the oven racks. Remove the base pan in the oven to access the ignitor. Most plug in. Some have wire nuts.
Your local appliance parts store will need the model number or the ignitor for a correct replacement.

Tappan Oven #MEF500PBWD heating unevenly

Perhaps the item you are using to check temperatures is not accurate. I my line of work, I use a digital thermometer which records immediate temperature. Perhaps understanding the process will help you see more accuracy in the way you read the temperature in your oven. Allow me to offer this explanation....First of all, place your thermometer near on the top rack as close to the oven temperature probe as possible. This probe is the focal point for your oven and detects the temperature and opens the electrical circuit to turn off the element when the desired set temperature is attained. Set your electric oven to 300 degrees and hopefully, you have a window in your oven to watch. The bake element will come on and the temperature will rise until it reaches 300 degrees. It is at this point when your oven bake indicator light should go out. When this happens....look inside. The element is still bright orange and emitting heat and will continue to raise the temperature in the oven to approximately 325 - 340 degrees. With this noted, you will see the temperature beginning to drop 315, 310, 300, 295, 290, 285 perhaps even 280 or some even lower to 275 and then the indicator lamp will go on indicating the circuit has closed thus turning on the element, Finally there is a variance and no range GAS or ELECTRIC will ever maintain a even 300 degree temperature. The calibration set point is based on the 300 degrees. If your oven light goes off within 20-25 degrees of three hundred degrees, your oven is already calibrated pretty close and I would not attempt to adjust it at all.

Electric Diagram for Kenmore Model 790

Has the oven run out of control or gotten too hot? The 790 series is made by Frigidaire and those fault codes are F0 to F8. F2 indicates the temperature sensor is reading too hot. Now with the double oven models, some manufactures add an extra digit to the fault codes to indicate which oven created the fault.

Your most likely fix is to replace the temperature sensor. The most probable locations for the wiring diagram is taped inside the bottom drawer, on the back or under side of the oven, or behind one of the panels on the back of the oven. This might tell you the room temperature resistance for the temperature sensor so you can test it with an ohmmeter and be sure that it is faulty. Try Appliance Parts Pros for replacement sensors.

Kenmore oven error code f10

The F10 indicates that the electronic oven control board senses a runaway temperature condition in the oven through the oven sensor circuit.
This can be caused by a faulty oven temperature sensor probe or a failed electronic control board.
Oven temperature is detected by the control board as it monitors the resistance through the oven temperature sensor circuit.
You could have a failed oven temperature sensor, a wiring harness failure, an open thermal switch or a failed electronic oven control board that would cause this problem.
The first component to check would normally be the oven temperature sensor probe.
If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can shut off the breaker for the range and remove the screws that mount this sensor to the back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the wire harness into the oven cavity until you get to the wire harness disconnect plug.
You should have enough slack to pull it this far into the oven.
Disconnect the sensor but do not let the wire harness retract back through the back wall of the oven or it will be hard to reconnect.
Measure the resistance of the oven temperature sensor with your volt/ohm meter. At room temperature, the resistance should measure around 1100 ohms.
The resistance chart is shown in the image below.

If the resistance is above 2200 ohms at room temperature, then the sensor probe is causing the F10 error code and will need to be replaced.

You can order a new sensor probe from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the sensor is 316217002.

If the resistance is normal, then one of the other causes mentioned above is producing your F10 code.
You would need to access the electronic oven control board (Timer) in the console and check the resistance at the sensor circuit connection to the control board as the next step in troubleshooting this problem.
