Usually the filter is attached to the cap just turn it to the left and pull the filter out with the cap. Be sure the water to the machine is turned off before pulling it out.

Hi my name is Chris

If your water filter is hiding inside a tilt down cover, just pull the filter out with the tilt down cover all the way down. No turning required :-)

How to remove water filter do i have to rotate it or just pull it out

Open the door, this shuts off the water supply to the filter reach in and turn the filter counter clockwise a 1/4 to 1/2 turn and pull the filter down. Replace filter the same way, close the fridge door and away you go! Takes about thirty seconds to complete.

I have been unable to remove the wter filter. I have tried to turn it 1/4 of an inch clockwise as described in the owners manual but the filter won't budge. any suggestions?

OK maybe try 1/4 inch counterclockwise and pull down. Here is what the service manual quotes.

That is easy for anyone to misread.
Water Filter Removal

The water filter is located in the upper right-hand

corner of the refrigerator. The water filter filters water

for the ice maker and the water dispenser.

1. Turn the water filter 1/2 turn counterclockwise and

pull it down.

2. To install the filter, align the indication mark

(unlock position) and push it up while turning 1/2

turn clockwise until the lock position is aligned.

Do not over tighten.
That would be to the left while facing the filter and opposite for installation. Note where and when to push up. Please let me know if you have any questions and please rate if I am able to help you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I can't get the water filter out of my Whirlpool gold side by side. Help

The water filter should be at the bottom of the refrigerator. You don't even have to open the doors.

You will either have a push button filter or a twist filter. I will walk you through the twist filter first.

At the bottom of the front of the frig, you will see a turn handle. This is the filter. What you need to do is turn the handle a quarter turn (90 degrees) counter clockwise. This will release the filter. Simply pull it out. the handle will slide off the front (this is what you were using to turn the filter). You must keep this and put it on the new filter in the same fashion.

The push button filter is in the same spot, only instead of turning it you push the button and it should pop out. Pull it out and save the cap! The cap goes on the new filter you install.

If you have located the filter but are having actual difficulties removing it because it is stuck, the only advice i have is be careful not to hurt your fingers! Applying slow pressure in a pulling fashion will generally relieve it. If I can be of further assistance let me know!

These filter generally cost between $35 and $40 at your local retailer.

I can't pull out the filter

Make sure the filter is turned all the way to the unlock position, then get some pliers and grab the turning bar, and pull.

Make sure there is nothing in front of the filter that you have not removed yet.

Cannot remove water filter from LG 26 cu ft side-by-side in the d

Here's the only thing that worked for me in getting the water filter out of my LG refrigerator after trying for three weeks, pulling hard by hand, using high-grip gloves, and trying an oil filter wrench. You have to break or lessen the suction created by the water in the filter. Do this by first turning the filter to the Removal position (in my case, a quarter-turn to the left). Then grip the filter tight and rock it back and forth slowly as far toward the back and front of the refrigerator as possible, while keeping a bit of downward pressure on the filter. This lets the two O-Rings "walk" their way down the insert tube. After only a few pushes and pulls - voila! -- it lets go and will drop right out.

Change the water filter

Most are ok to pull as there is a shutoff in combination with feed lines... If in doubt and the water shutoff is convienient to get to turn it off. Otherwise just pull the filter...especially if it simply snaps into place as it should take care of turning off the water as the filter comes out....

Cant remove water filter

I am guessing you know to turn the filter fully counterclockwise, to remove it.
My first suggestion would be to turn the filter fully counterclockwise until the dead stop, then while holding the filter with one hand you would push and release quickly the water dispenser lever. The pressure should pop the filter out of its socket.
My second suggestion is turn filter counterclockwise to dead stop, then take a very hot towel (protect your hands and to not touch towel to any glass shelves) and wrap it around the filter. This method will hopefully warm the water in the filter causing the water to expand and help push the filter out of its socket.
My third suggestion would be more extreme. Turn the water supply off. Turn filter counterclockwise to dead stop, then drill a hole in the side of the filter to allow air into the filter to release any vacuum in the filter allowing you to pull it out of the socket.
If none of these work then the filter socket probably will have to be disconnected so you can get it out of the compartment and get a better grip on all.
I have never had to go that far myself.

I hope I have helped you and please don't forget to rate me.
