My bobbin thread breaks too much. How do I fix it.

Be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Even though it appears to fit the bobbin case, if it is the wrong bobbin, it could cause major headaches.

Try a different bobbin. Try different thread.

Also check that the bobbin thread is wound smoothly and turning the correct direction in the bobbin case. Make sure the thread is threaded through the bobbin tension properly.

AVOID old and inexpensive, bargain bin thread!

There could be a nick or burr somewhere that is catching the bobbin thread and breaking it.

Try loosening the bobbin tension a bit. It could be too tight, especially if the bobbin thread is pulling the upper thread down to the underside of the fabric.

There could also be something wrong with the bobbin case itself that may be resolved by trying a new bobbin case (or borrow one from a friend, etc.)

Needle will not pick up bottom thread

Try a brand new needle. Verify it is installed correctly.

Remove the bobbin. Check that the bobbin is turning the correct direction and the thread is threaded correctly in the bobbin case. Reinstall the bobbin case and make sure that it latches.

Retest your machine. Manually turn the handwheel and watch the needle descend and see if the thread picks up the bobbin thread. If not, then the machine may have a timing issue. Take it for service.

How do I add thread to the bobbin on Singer sewing machine 3114?

Your repair shop will have to fix the handwheel, but you can still wind your bobbin. UNTHREAD the machine completely, and take the needle out. Set up your thread to wind the bobbin, and push the winder over until it clicks. Wind your bobbin. I don't have a picture of your model; this is just standard.

4795do i get hand wheel to turn, stuck

YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR BOBBIN AND BOBBIN CASE OUT AND THOROUGHLY CLEAN IT. BLOW IT OUT AND THEN USE A QTIP TO MAKE A FINAL CLEAN. ADD ONE DROP OF SEWING MACHINE OIL ON THE RACE (SMALL AREA THE BOBBIN CASE SETS ON TOP OF). MAKE SURE ALL OF THE THREAD IS CLEARED OUT. DON'T THREAD MACHINE YET!
TRY TO TURN THE WHEEL TOWARDS YOU. YOU MAY WANT TO REMOVE THE TOP AND BOTTOM TO PLACE OIL ON ALL MOVING PARTS. REMEMBER THE NEEDLE ARM THAT GOES UP AND DOWN IN THE FRONT NEEDS TO BE OILED. THIS SHOULD WORK UNLESS THERE IS SOME SERIOUS PROBLEM.

My bobbin won't move to add thread to it

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

I only want to know if the wheel must be loosened to wind the bobbin and if so with direction, to the front or backwards and press and turn or pull and turn.thanks

Which make and model sewing machine do you have?

None of my sewing machines need the wheel to be loosened for bobbin winding. The Singer Touch & Sew bobbins are filled in place. Use the handwheel to get the needle into the highest position (just turn the wheel). Wrap the top thread around the screw that holds the presser foot; open the slide plate part way and press the bobbin wind button. Hold the top thread and then begin winding by stepping on the foot pedal.. The thread should break after a few winds.

The Kenmore and the Husqvarna Vikings both get wound at the top. Place bobbin on winding pin. With the needle up and metal presser foot in place thread the top thread up to the bobbin (through the guides) and up through the hole in the bobbin. Slide the bobbin winding switch over towards the bobbin. Hold the thread tightly and begin winding (step on the foot control). After a few winds are on the bobbin, cut the thread that you were holding flush with the top of the bobbin. Continue winding the bobbin. (The newest Viking in the group has a computer screen; on that one, do not press OK until done winding the bobbin.)

However, if the handwheel is not turning and the needle is down, first find out why it isn't turning properly. This could indicate a tangle of thread somewhere in the system. (The older Husqvarna sewing machine in my home has a non-functional handwheel. The machine will still sew but you have to use the needle up/down switch that forces the needle to stop in the up position before you run out of bobbin.)

Please add a comment with the specifics of your sewing machine and I'll be glad to add additional information.

I hope this helps.

Singer 57817 thread tension problem

Hello,

If you have Increased the upper thread tension on your machine, try these solutions.

* Decrease your bobbin tension if your sewing machine allows you to adjust it. Consult your manual.

* Re-thread your bobbin, It may be threaded incorrectly.

* Reinsert your bobbin, It may be inserted incorrectly.

* Change your thread. If your upper thread and bobbin threads are different types, try using the same thread for both.

I hope this helps.

Bobbin problem: Huskystar by Husqvarna Viking E10 sewing machine

This has happened to me, even though I have been sewing for 30 yrs. When I take the bobbin holder out I realise what I have done wrong. When placing a bobbin into the bobbin holder the thread must be running around the bobbin CLOCKWISE. If incorrect take bobbin out of holder turn it over, so now the thread will run clockwise. If bobbin placed in holder and thread runs anti-clockwise, when you tried to turn wheel to bring bobbin thread up, it will either not do it at all or will make a huge tangle of the threads. Happy Sewing
