Question about OKI Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

How do I reset the toner percentage on my Oki B8300? I have refilled the toner cartridge, but it does not seem to recognize that there is toner available. The machine continues to read the toner level at 0%.

It turns out there IS a chip for the toner cartridge and there does not appear to be new chips available for this unit.

SOURCE: reset Ink levels for canon mx310

I've heard that with canon there is a way around the ink-level chip monitoring on the cartridge by doing the following:

  1. Power off printer
  2. Hold RESUME button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.
  3. Hold POWER and release RESUME
  4. Press RESUME twice
  5. Release POWER button
  6. When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME three(3) times. The indicator should be orange.
  7. Press POWER to set data

How to reset oki b411dn cartridge after refilling

Producers of printers protecting oneself against the mass copying of original toners implemented the number of solutions being aimed at hampering the copying of their solutions. Towards a number of recipes for individual sub-assemblies of the cartridge intended for a laser printer applying special scaling circuits installed in the casing of the toner which are suming the number of printed sides up was the most spectacular solution and are freezing the laser contribution after the achievement of set limit of printouts. OKI B4400 toner - is the chip reusable? I get toner not installed

The chip is not reusable and needs to be replaced every time. You should be able to find a chip on the internet somewhere. I own a Cartridge World printer cartridge refilling store and I do not recommend refilling your own toner cartridges or buying super cheap ones off the internet. The toner is generally such a low grade that it degrades your drum cartridge causing you to replace a $219 drum unit before you should have to.

Error Message/Black toner empty

Most all new color laser printers employ an RFID reader adjacent to each of the 4 tomer cartridges. There is a unique RFID chip inside (under a small blue slide cover) each toner cartridge. Whan a new toner cartridge is installed, the printer "knows" such and begins a "countdown" of the number of prints that are made which utilize the toner in each of the 4 cartridges. Once a toner cartridge has "processed" the predetermined number of copies you will get a warning that the cartridge is almost empty and must be replaced. After an additional predetermined number of copies are processed, the integral computer within the printer will shut down the printer until the cartridge is "replaced". If you simply "refill" the same or original cartridge and re-install it into the printer, the same RFID chip is in the cartridge and the computer will not reset the print "counter", allowing you to start printing. You have to obtain another couple of new or "re-filled" cartridges (of the same color or black) from an outside source. The printers' internal computer does not keep a complete running list of all of the RFID chips that have been installed and used in the printer (maybe 2 or 3) and then then it is "1st in / 1st out" of the limited RFID memory of the printer. I have been unable to obtain a "Service Manual" for the OKI C3400n printer to determine how to do a "hard reset" of the internal computer. I know there is a way which would allow the "refilling" of the toner cartridges without having to buy an additional 2 of each color.

B8300 toner error

From Oki's site: Symptom: The toner counter did not clear after installing a new toner cartridge. Cause: The printer was not powered off when the new toner cartridge was installed, Therefore the counter did not cleared. Resolution: 1. Enter the PCU Diagnostic Mode, By turning off the printer and holding down the MENU and OK buttons on power up. (Release the buttons once you're in the PCU DIAG MODE) 2. Press the MENU button 14 times until the operator panel reads " Counter Display " 3. Press the MENU button and the BACK/C button at the same time, This will put the printer into the Feed Counter Clear Mode (Release the buttons once you're in the Feed Counter Clear Mode) 4. Press the up arrow 5 times until the operator reads " Toner Counter Clear " 5. Press the OK button, The operator panel will now display " Toner no " 6. Press the up arrow once and the operator panel will display " Toner yes". Now press the OK button and the green data light will flash to indicate that the clear process is complete 7. To exit the PCU Diagnostic Mode, By turn the printer off and then back on this will allow you to exit the PCU Diagnostic Mode Hope that helps. If it does not please let me know Ed
