Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

Bobbin case is stuck in hook race cover. The bobbin case release lever doesn't seem to be working properly, and case won't pop out of hook race.

I've removed the hook race cover from the machine and tried to poke the bobbin case out from the back, but no luck. Any suggestions?

1. Try to get the hook towards the front.
2. Remove the bottom.
3. From the back of the hook you will need a wide item to go through the hole of the hook. This is so that you can tap it while it is pushing the bobbin case.
4. You may add a little extra oil to help.
5.. Be patient so that you don't bend the hook or the race.
Because the bobbin case is in at an angle it will have to be forced out. Try to see which way it is cocked so that you can place your tool against it while tapping it.

Bobbin cover door is stuck on Bernina 930 Electronic, and won't open. Can you help me?

Tricky !!! I dont know why the door is stuck, but its possible that the spring-loaded plunger in the top of the bobbin door is stuck into the cover of the free-arm. If there is suficient gap between the top of the bobbin door and the free-arm cover, you could try sliding a thin piece of metal or a very small flat-bladed screwdriver between the two, in the dead-centre of the bobbin door - that's where the plunger is located. By gently manouvreing the screwdriver in, you might be able to release it - be careful, because it's possible that the retaining circlip has dropped-off the bottom, in which case, the plunger and its pressure spring might fly out when the bobbin door opens. If that doesn't work, you could try unscrewing and removing the stitch plate and, again, with a small flat-bladed screwdriver, see if you can release the free-arm cover catch that's next to the top-left-hand-side of the bobbin door, but that's a very risky approach, because the feed-dogs will be in the way and you dont want to mangle any of the hook/shuttle parts etc. You need to find out why the bobbin door is not seated properly - it may be that the bottom hinge that also carries the hook/shuttle retainer has come out of the left-hand hinge mount in the free-arm. Good Luck.

I have a Bernina Activa 230 and my bobbin case is stuck in the machine and it wont come out, Someone Please help me what do I do?

can you unlatch the ring cover device? there is a little release lever on the left just inside the bobbin area which secures a hinged silver square called hook race cover, if you unlatch this, flop the cover forward, then the bobbin case and shuttle should all come out as well.

B/A 180 engine groans and then stops...push pedal and may start stitching again...Sometimes have to turn hand wheel. ????

Refer to your owner's manual to better assist you in following these instructions.Remove the bobbin case. Release the hook cover by pushing the lever which is located at the top left side of where the bobbin case is inserted. After the cover pops open, remove the hook. Observe if the machine now moves freely. Clean the hook and the hook area with a toothbrush, removing all lint and debris. Place one small drop of sewing machine oil on the rim of the hook. Replace the hook into the raceway and close the cover. Replace the bobbin case and test sew.

Where is the shuttle race on a Bernina Artista 180? I'd like to be exact as to where to put the drop of oil.

Just to the left of the bobbin case you will see a small lever. Remove the bobbin case and push the lever and that will release the latch which holds the race cover and shuttle (hook).

Clean well with a toothbrush and place one small drop of oil on the edge of the hook where it makes contact with the raceway. Place the hook back and snap the race cover back on.

Bobbin don't turn

In the shuttle area there is a silver round piece- called the shuttle race cover. It has a black ear on the right and a black ear on the left. Push the right ear to the right, and the left ear to the left and the silver ring should come out. Behind the silver ring is the bobbin case stuck in the hook. Remove that, jiggle it, move it, just work the bobbin case out of the hook. Now put the hook back in the machine. In the machine there is a driver that looks like a half moon. Your hook looks like a half moon- make a full circle out of both of them. Re-install the race cover, pushing the left ear to the right and the right ear to the left to secure the race cover, and your problem should be solved.
