Question about Samsung Televison & Video
I had a repairman come out to my house and he check the power to some of the components and this is what he determined. I bought a lamp thinking that was the problem but he determined that both work, its not making a constant clicking noise so its not the color wheel. He thought that the Analog board wasn't receiving full power so he told me that he thought I needed a new analog board. While he was there he was heating the analog board with a hair dryer and after some time he was able to get the tv to come on and work. Shortly after he left the TV shut back off. Later I learned to do the same thing, heating up the board and cycling the TV on and off many times. The most I've been able to get it to stay on is about 3 days. I just recently swapped out the analog board with another one but it is doing the same thing. So thats where i am now. I'm about to send the board back because I dont think that is the problem. Any help anyone can give me to locate the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Jim from Maryland

You are absolutely correct, When anyone complains of vertical lines or bars, the next step is to see if it happens on only digital inputs ( digital board ) , only analog inputs ( analog board ) , or both ( DMD board ) .
Analog board can be purchased at www.partstore.com ,

There should be a jumper somewhere around the color wheel. I am having a problem with my color wheel, and after doing a lot of research I found that people that have the same problem as you changed the jumper setting. Try looking it up here on the net. Should solve your problem.

Replace the color wheel again, its gone bad again. the clicking is the ballast trying to fire the lamp. The Ballast will not fire the lamp until the color wheel has reported it has reached an RPM of around 9000rpm. This is a normal sound. Most of the time the color wheel will make a loud whining sound when bearings go bad, sounds like a Airplane using reverse thrusters when landing and a even louder sound when it shatters in the housing. Also the reason it may of gone bad so soon is because they make to versions of this color wheel, Bearing type and the Air type. I don't know who installed your color wheel, but it should of came with a small tag or paper of some sort with numbers on it. Most people throw this away when it is very important to let the unit know which type of wheel is being installed to set the parameters for either type of wheel. Most people who install colors wheels themselves to save money do not know this, and the only way to install the new settings is thru the Factory Service Mode. There are also color parameters to input for the type of wheel being used.
This is your basic Color wheel 101..
Hope I gave you some insite of what may of caused your problem...Please leave comment if more info is needed..Lavell
