The power cord sounds like it is shorted. It can be repaired or replaced. Here is a good place to order one.

My 830 Bernina won't stop if it's plugged in?

First, Don't run the machine until you get it repaired. Running it could burn out the actual sewing machine costing you a lot more money in repairs. This problem could be that the mechanism inside the pedal is stuck in the down position. Most sewing machine pedals can be removed. Sit with the back of sewing machine nearest to you, as if your using it from the wrong side. The block connector for the pedal should be next to your left hand. Pull the connector block towards you. It might be tight so may need a reasonable amount of force to get it out. If you take it to a sewing machine specialist they may be able to service or repair it.

My machine won't stop running when turned on

Since you turn it on and it starts to run without your help the foot control has a problem. Try to pull the control apart and turn it on again. It is likely the spring is either broken or dislodged from where the bracket is. Check the spring.

Why does the built in light go out as soon as you start sewing and comes back on when you stop?

sounds like there is a short in the wiring somewhere in the machine, it would be a good idea to have it checked

Sewing machine starts sewing as soon as it is turned on, without the pedal being pressed at all. The only way to stop this is by turning the machine off.

Call Singer at 1-800-4singer customer service, You didn't say what model you have, so I really don't know what to tell you.

EMBROIDERY STOPS IN MIDDLE OF DESIGN. PRESS RUN AND IT WILL RUN FOR A SECOND AND STOP AGAIN

Are you sure you are not "double-pressing" the Start/Stop button? The machine might think you have said Go and Stop straight after? Try embroiderying using the foot pedal - see if that works for you. I guess you are aware that the machine will stop for thread colour changes. Do an experiment on any old piece of fabric - load the design and press the Stop button (not the one mentioned above, but the one of the left-hand side above Fix). The light should go out. This will eliminate the colour changes - the design will sew out in one single colour only. See if it keeps running and completes the design.

I would also "park" the embroidery arm, turn off the machine, remove the arm, replace the arm, turn machine back on and try again. Sometimes it just needs to start all over to get things back on track.

Sewing Machine light flickers/dims while sewing.

There may be a loose connection. If this is a brand new machine the warranty should cover the repair.

Check the return policy at Sears/K-Mart as it may be better to return it for a replacement.
