I get a humming sound in the headphones as if an internal filter or motor has shorted out, I cannot hear anything other than the buzzing sound. Would a faulty plug in, transformer cause this?

I've done this a number of times. Stop plugging your headphones into the footswich jack and plug them into the headphone jack. That's the red one. It would help if the headphone jack was the one on the end, or the footswitch was in the back, but as it is, you just have to become aware of what this sounds like. Have a great day.

Runs fine on low speed hums on high speed (turns slowly) is it a capacitor problem, internal windings or controller?

Motor itself is the culprit.

Capacitor helps the motor to start spinning from a dead stop, so NO, it is not a capacitor problem.

Probably high speed windings. Means - New Motor needed.

Another possibility, is the controller could be sending power to "Both" sides of the windings: High speed & Low speed at the same time. But normally when this happens, you hear a loud buzz type of sound, motor will spin slowly - if at all.

Good Luck

There is a buzzing sound in the left earcup, without any audio cord plugged in. It occurs when I turn the headphones on, and it sounds like a very high pitched screech. Any ideas?

Make and Model information of the head set would help.

As for an idea it would be power line hum being picked up by the audio cord. I am assuming this because you turn it on and I then assumed it has ab internal amplifier. Short all three pins together and the buzzing should go away unless there is a broken ground wire.

Washer filled w water but wont agitate, spin or drain. I hear a humming, buzzing and something smells like it is burning. After several attempts to start in various different cyles it may have tripped...

send the model number.if it's humming it sounds like the motor is bad.where.if it resets after a while and hums again it's the motor.there's an overload in the motor, when it gets to hot it pops and will reset after it cools.

Low buzzing sound

its the d.c. filter capacitor in the power supply, when they get old and dry out internally they let the d.c. ripple current they are suppose to filter past and this is your hum noise, replace the capacitor(s) in this circuit

Carver CT-28v Tuner preamp - Has a hum/buzz (soundls like a ground loop) that is heard as soon as the unit is turned on. Does not increase with volume, just stays the same and is continuous. Changing...

Reverse the polarity of the AC plug and try it. Is there a headphone jack on the preamp? Try headphones with the preamp standalone without the amp attached.

Are you sure the preamp is the problem? I assume you also have an amp or you wouldn't hear anything. Power up the amp with nothing but speakers attached. Hum??? It's in the amp. No Hum? Attach just the preamp with no external components. Hum now? It's the CT-28. Turn it off an exercise every switch and knob throughout its range numerous times. Try again. Still humming? Manipulate source selections, Tape Monitor, everything.

Buzzing noise when I talk

Do you have the Play n Charge Kit connected? It seems if you use that with the X1 at the same time, some kind of hum noise is transmitted through the USB bus power to the X1 headset, and you hear a buzz or high-pitched hum. The solution is to use the X1 without the Play n Charge Kit, and charge the controller when you're playing the sound through your TV instead of the headset.

Air Conditioner Compressor Fan Quit

Check the start capacitor. You may be able to see visual deformaty, otherwise, use a meter. The buzzing is most likely the contactors closing which uses a seperate 24v supply..

Just buzzes

the only thing you can do to possibly solve this problem without a professional is to:
  • tape down the door switch with strong tape, or have someone else hold it down.
  • physically turn the tub inside the dryer while pushing the start switch.
  • this will hopefully loosen whatever has the motor stuck.
if this does not work then the motor in the dryer might be bad or going bad, especially if a burning smell is present when you hear the humming sound.
