Cleaning the optics won't hurt as it removed build up off of mirror . but I'd suspect the bulb is nearing the end of its life cycle . or a light engine failing .

Mitsubishi Model Ts 4553 picture dull and dark will cleaning the inside help or do you think I need a bulb replacement

You will want to clean lens and mirror when you replace the bulb so why not try it first. Avoid glass cleaner with amonnia as it will ruin mirror.

Toshiba tv has dark picture cant hardly see want get bright

If it's a old style projection screen pry off front grid, you,ll see a trapezoidal mirror this often becomes hazed smoke, dirt, ect. Make sure set is unplugged DO NOT ASSUME THEIR IS NO SHOCK HAZZARD BECAUSE SET IS UNPLUGGED(see capacitors) be careful and clean mirror with damp cloth and glass cleaner try not to spray as safety percotion, their are 3 tubes red , green, blue, green is th dominaent color if you know how turn blue HVU UP 1st( CLEAN picture tube lens 1st) These type of picture tube have clear poly glycol ( anti freeze) in lens unit to cool and is part of the optical system. I this fluid becomes contaminated then cost of repair may exceed value of unit, then increase red value I just thought you may bee able to do the color via menu not sure, if picture has a green tent at start this should help good luck , lot me know what you see.

Mitsubishi 62525 static on screen more noticeable with dark background cleaned filter and replace lamp

A few of these (not sure if this model) have two mirrors inside--stupid idea and only a few had that--.

If this is the case here--little mirror (I mean LITTLE) is at bottom pointing up from the optical lens--gets dust and such from the fans= picture gets darker to the point where brightness is very diminished.

Mitsubishi can tell you if it has two mirrors (the large one in rear of set must not be touched and never needs cleaning as any finger prints etc will show in the picture.

If two mirrors I can tell you what to do--15 minute two person job.

Blurry picture

Just a shot in the dark but the first thing i do when i get a blurry rptv in my shop is clean the mirror. Dust can accumulate and create a blurred image. You must be careful however as some of the mirrors are Front Surface mirrors and require special cleaning solutions/techniques. If thats the case using a damp cloth could ruin the mirror. I hope this was helpful.

Mitsubishi WD-62527. Dark picture.

That unit is a two mirror set. Meaning the light engine lens shines down onto a small mirror and that is reflected onto a large mirror and then onto the screen. Gravity being what it is dust and other contaminants cover the lower mirror. Moving the set would only aggrevate dust settling on it. To fix the problem the screen must be removed and the mirror cleaned. You won't believe the difference. It will be like watching a new tv.

Dark color

Have you tried polishing the projection mirror and changing the coolant in the CRTs. The mirror alone can make the picture dull. Do not use windex to clean the mirror, just a soft damp cloth then dry. You can access the mirror hrough the back panel its a bit of a reach but its do able from the rear the mirror is directly above the rear acess panel.

Dark spots on tv

I have the same TV, and I was getting the black spots on my screen as well. It is dust settling on the bottom mirror. Yoiu can call Mitsubishi and spend 150-200 on getting it cleaned, or you can do like I did and take the front panel off and the 10 screws around the edge on the back of the black plastic border around the screen. Then lift up gently and have someone hold the screen for you and gently dust the bottom mirror. I did this by myself, but it would be wise to have 2 people do it.
