Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. TV is often turned off when some parts of the circuits got too hot. You should try to use a room fan to cool the back of the TV and see if it improves by itself before you try to fix the TV. Overheating is often caused by condensation, which also can be dried by a room fan slowly move the air..

Turn itself off as soon as you turn it on (37MF33ID/37)

in the lcd tv there are three main parts
1)the inverter board(pannel)
2)the main board .
3)the power supply board.
if there is no power at all them main board is faulty.if no front led light is coming ON there is no power .so the main board is faulty.on the main board there is a fuse located you have to replace that and check first if still no power main board needs to be checked and replaced
if there is sound but no picture and front led light is ON then its inverter board panel problem.if this is your case replace inverter panel.its located in the lower side of the lcd in the inner area below the main board.
but if there is just front led light blinking , but no picture or sound then its power supply board problem.
but as you mentioned that the tv turns ON for some seconds then automatically turns off this indicates that the power supply board is not faulty but there is a component on the board that is getting over heated because its got weak so due this overheating of a component the circuit gets short and tv shuts off.
on power supply board there are some capacitors and ic located.if any of the component gets short or budged up then it short the power supply you can check the components on power supply board with multimeter and get it replaced by using soldering iron.
also you can get new replaCEment power supply board.this clears the problem completely.
you can get the required board and components at ----- -------- or from ------ ----
if you are not familiar with doing this you can get it done by local tv repair technician familiar with this model tv.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

6 slow and 1 fast blink error on this model is vertical sweep failure. vertical ic's are located on large signal board. to verify error is correct would recommend disconnecting 1516 6 pin connector on lsb to msb as sometimes that board causes shutdown issues and if no change reconnect and disconnect crt anode leads going into hv generator and if no change replace large signal board

Hi, we have a phillips tv. it is about 6 orso years old. within the last 6 months, it has starting going off. you turn it on and it may play 5 or 10 or even 30 or more minutes but it keeps going off. the...

I wouldnt use that service man. If your set is shutting down its most likely do to the shutdown circuitry being triggerd by a defective component. I would recomend contacting someone skilled with phillips model televisions, most sets that play and then shutdown usually have a problem with a single component that is triggering shutdown, a skilled repair man will test the various voltages to determine the cause of the shutdown.

Set comes on with e.h.t for 4 sec, then goes off B=142v

The problem you described is a case of the shutdown circuit being activated. This is either due to an overcurrent or overvoltage condition within the circuirty of the TV set. This could be an open or shorted component in the High Voltage section of the TV, or an open or shorted component in the low voltage power supply section of the TV. In any case If I were troubleshooting this TV I would check the Horizontal out put transistor to see if it had shorted or opened at one of its junctions. I would also check to see if any of the voltage regulators had shorted or opened. I would also suggest that you check to see if you see any signs of burnt components (note the section).

If you do not have a background in Electronics, I would suggest that you take the TV to a qualified TV shop for repairs. This is because the work that needs to be done is not sinmple, and serious harm can result if you are not careful.

I wish you well on the repair of your TV.

Thank you,

crt beam current too high causing shutdown as you know. Check cathode voltage of each cathode, normal levels depend on picture is around 130-150V. Missing 200V to crt board. Screen voltage problem normal 300-500V. Flyback or bad crt. ABL circuit problem. Jungle IC.
