I am having trouble lowering the deck on my mower

as most deck adjustments are mechanical control ,the problems come from rusted pivot points on the levers. try some WD-40 or same on all the joints.

Why does the engine die when I lower the mower deck on my Murray lawn tractor?

I would check your belt tension and make sure that it is not too tight.
If you have the manual, try the trouble shooting section for further information.

Precor error code 29

Precor Error 29, Excessive AC Input Current Probable Cause 1. The running belt and/or deck are badly worn.
2. Bad lower PCA.
3. Drive motor is shorted or de-magnetized causing a high power demand.
Corrective Action
  1. Check the amp draw using a clamp on AC volt-amp meter during loaded and no load conditions and compare values to a similar treadmill that is known to have a good running belt and deck. Replace the belt and/or deck if necessary. Don't forget, some units have a double sided deck which means it may be flipped over rather than replaced if it has an unused side.
  2. Test unit with a known good lower PCA. Replace lower PCA if necessary.
  3. Test unit with a known good drive motor. Replace drive motor if necessary

What is error 28

Precor Error 28, Temperature Too High Probable Cause 1. The lower PCA cooling fan is clogged.
2. The lower PCA cooling fan is inoperative.
3. The running belt and/or deck are badly worn.
4. The lower PCA is bad.
5. Drive motor is shorted or de-magnetized causing a high power demand.
Corrective Action
  1. Inspect the fan mounted on the lower PCA for dust/debris buildup. Clean if necessary, ensuring the fan spins freely. Some lower PCA's do not have a cooling fan and others may have the fan mounted on the underside of the lower PCA making it not as visible.
  2. The fan was free of dust or debris but does not spin. Make sure that the fan wiring is secure and properly connected to the lower PCA. If no obstruction to the fan and the wiring is good but fan still doesn't turn, replace the lower PCA.
  3. Check the amp draw using a clamp on AC volt-amp meter during loaded and no load conditions; compare the values to a similar treadmill that is known to have a good running belt and deck. Replace the belt and/or deck if necessary. Don't forget, some units have a double sided deck which means it may be flipped over rather than replaced if it has an unused side.
  4. Test unit with a known good lower PCA. Replace lower PCA if necessary.
  5. Test unit with a known good drive motor. Replace drive motor if necessary.

Lawn boy 2 cycle that smokes

Check the air breather. Make sure it is clean.

If it is clean, you will probably need to replace the diaphragm. A bad diaphragm will cause black smoke and also cause the mower to run erratically.
