As most deck adjustments are mechanical control ,the problems come from rusted pivot points on the levers. try some WD-40 or same on all the joints.

Is not cutting evenly

Depending on the mower design there are several possibilities here. There should be adjustments for the deck. Either by raising or lowering the deck wheels or adjusting where the deck connects to the mower. Also possible that the support mechanism is bent causing the deck to sit lower on one side or even that the deck is bent especially if someone has been stepping on the deck to enter or exit the mower.

Why does the engine die when I lower the mower deck on my Murray lawn tractor?

I would check your belt tension and make sure that it is not too tight.
If you have the manual, try the trouble shooting section for further information.

2000 craftman lawn tractor 917.270822 blades will not engage

If your blades won't engage when you raise the lever to engage them AND that lever moves freely without the normally expected resistance, then you've lost the cotter pin that connects the lever rod to the mower deck assembly. Very easy fix! Using the mower deck raise/lower lever, lower the mower deck to "down" position. Now, lay on your side along the right side of the mower and look up (use a flashlight) under the mower at the top of the mower deck while moving the blade engagement lever "up" (which pushes the connected rod down). At the end of the rod, you will see a hole where the mower deck and rod connect. Align the hole at the end of the rod with the matching "pin" on the mower deck (you'll see it) and insert a new cotter pin to secure them together. Use a nail if you don't have a cotter pin. Voila! you are done. The blade engagement lever will now engage/disengage your mower blades successfully. Just remember that mower deck must be down, or lowered, before you engage the blades!

LA110, 42" mower deck, 1

Check that the cutting tip of the blade that is cutting lower is not bent down. Also park the mower on a level surface and lower the deck and check the gap under the front of the deck is even. If not, there are levelling adjustments on the top of one side of the deck. Regards Phil

Every time I lower my mower board my mower stops or slows down. I just replaced the mandrel and also the belt. When my mower board is raised up all the way the mower works good.

Lower the deck without it running and see if anything is making contact with the mower belt that shouldn't be. Sure sounds to me like you have the belt in a bind when you lower the deck, possibly by not routing the belt in the correct position when you replaced the belt.

I have a 20 HP Sears riding mower with 42" deck. Something has caused the right side of the deck to sit lower. It literally sits on the ground when lower to #1 position.

There are deck leveling adjustment bars located on most lawn tractors, most are equipped with a large plastic wing nut. There will be one on each side, with the mower off, lower the deck to the lowest position, loosen the wing nuts on each side, then re-tightnen. There is also a possibility if this is not the way your deck is levelled, there will be a deck hang wire/rod, however those are usually found on zero turn style mowers.

Deck trouble with a murray 40: cut mower

A hanger may have come loose from the deck that needs to be reattached.
Plus check your tire pressure, one tire with less air than the other will make it cut lop sided.

Cub cadet model LT1045 belt coming off the pulley for cutting deck?

FINAL SOLUTION TO FIX THE BELT FROM COMING OFF LT1045 WHILE MOWING!

I also had this issue with my LT1045 belt. However, I just figured out how to finally fix / re-engineer my LT1045 Cub Cadet from having issues with the belt coming off of the deck while mowing.

Taking it back into a shop for repairs will not work, the belt will just come off again the first time you mow. I am making a YouTube Video to help others like me with this mower issue and will post a link here soon showing how to fix this design flaw.

It took me about an hour to fix but I've got it working now with no problems, minimum vibrations and belt is running cool now! I've gone for 2 months with no problems now. Check back soon for the link!! I expect I will have the video tutorial finished within a week!!
