SOURCE: how to open tower fan to clean it

Use compressed air to blow the dust etc. out of the unit.  You can purchase a  can of compressed air from Home Depot or Lowes, or Google "compressed air in a can."  Just make sure you clean the unit outside to keep the dust etc. out of your home.

SOURCE: my lasko tower fan gets power n wont blow air

The bearings on the motor are dry and need oil. It's really not made to be oiled, but you may be able to take it apart and get some oil to the bearings if you want to mess with it.

How do you clean a Crofton tower fan?

Any tower fan is something of a pain to dis-assemble. Lots of screws and tricky plastic parts that snap together in various ways. So I don't take anyting apart on the fan itself. I use an air compressor with a blower nozzle to get the job done. As you blow the fine stream of air over the vents and into various areas at the top and bottom, watch out for dust blowback. As you blow into the center vents/grille, the fan blade will spin around, too. After you've blown out the dust, use a damp rag, along with an old paint brush to clean out the grooves in the vents and grille.

I need to take the fan apart to clean all of the dust inside. how do I do that

You will need a phillips screwdriver (preferably 2 different sizes - some of the screws are tiny), q-tips and a can of wd-40.
On the back of the brookstone (the darker gray side) you will find 4 screws inside of 4 channels. Take these out.
Put the fan on its head. pry off the 5 rubber bases and set aside carefully so as they won't lose their stickiness. You will see 5 screws beneath these. Remove them and then remove the bottom plate. Now remove the 2 screws and washers, noting that the rounded side of the washer was facing you. Now pivot the base so that the 4 holes on the outer part of the base line up with the 4 screwsheads that are screwed into the tower. Take these out.
The 2 gray tower pieces should now separate easily. set the fan on a newspaper and blow away as much of the surface dust as your can. Now use your wd-40 (with a straw nozzle attached) and spray into the motor area where the actual fan turns. Also spray, from the top down, along the metal rod that connects the fan to the motor.
Now use the q tips, dipped into warm water, to clean the dust from the fan "blades" and to clean any other nooks and crannies you can see.
Lube the motor up one more time, put the machine back together and leave to dry out overnight.
Will work like a charm afterwards.

Fans on Mac Intel Tower

I would suspect it needs a good internal cleaning. The accumulated dust will cause the computer to overheat. Disconnect all cables and take the unit to a place where you can clean it. Remove the side panel and then with a can of compressed air or an air compressor blow all dust out of the unit. Pay special attention to the heat sink on the processor. Make sure you clean the power supply fan. Be sure and not touch any internal components without first grounding yourself to the chassis. It is best to do this outside as the dust will fly everywhere. You should clean the inside at least once a year. Merry Christmas.

Cleaning tower fan

The best way that I found to clean things like this is to find someone who has an air compressor and blow out the unit. But do this outside! The dust is usually unbearable. This is easier than losing small parts and can't hurt it at all!
