Dave, Remove plug wire, raise mower, or tilt on it's side to access blade. Remove center bolt holding blade on, noting the position so as not to install new blade upside down. Install new blade correctly and tighten blade bolt tight. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Cub cadet:position of blades on mower deck of a cub lt 1045

the easiest is to lift it of ground a little.... not started and position the blades parallel to the body of the tractor. The blades even misaligned should not hit each other or cause any issues. with the blades disengaged they should move freely or with minimal effort

I would like to know the best way to change the blades on a42in lawn tractor it has 2 blades thanks

The very best and easiest way to remove the blades is with an air impact wrench. With an impact wrench it is simple as you do not even have to hold the blade, but with a ratchet and socket you must hold the blade while trying to remove the bolt. Use a piece of wood to wedge the blade so it cannot move.

How do I undo the bolts holding the blades on my Masport 400 mower? When I try the disc holding the blades just keeps rotating.

The easiest way is with an impact wrench. If you don't have one there is usually a hole in the disc where you can insert a screw driver to lock it from turning.

The belt slipped off the lawnboy self propel. what's easiest way to put it back on?It slipped off at the rear of the mower and i can't get to it. would it be easier to take the blade off and do it that...

The blade is usually easy to take off, and it will give you some room to work. There should also be a removable cover over where the other pulley is you can remove.

If the blade is old, take this opportunity to replace it.

Ariens ezr1742 mower blades do not engage....noticed after went over a stump.

The common cause of this problem is that one of the safty switches has come dis-connected or has failed since most every newer mower has a electric clutch controlling the mower deck PTO there are safties bilt in under the seat and in other locations to make sure everything is ok before the blades engage, easiest way to test this is to run a jumper from the positive post of the battery to the input wire on the electric clutch assembly making sure all other wires ade dis-connected from the clutch and see if the blades engage if so then usint a continuity tester check all the wires and switches to this item to check for a faulty switch or broken wire. Thanks Don

Hi, I have a westwood ride on mower & the 3 bladed 36inch deck has started to whine bearings I think? Are they easy to change? special tools? parts off who? the machine is just 3 years old Thanks JT

I assume you are referring to the deck bearings. The easiest way to replace the blade drive bearings is to remove the deck from the mower. You can then easily remove the blades, clean the deck and be able to easily get to the bolts holding the bearings and pulleys in place. This is normally a straightforward repair and can be accomplished with common hand tools. You will need to purchase the parts from the dealer who sells the mower. Replace all 3 set of bearings. On a 3 year old mower ask yourself why the bearings failed. Are you washing under the deck when the bearings housings are hot? That will cause premature failure. Are you greasing the bearings regularly?

Changing blades on riding mower

Must be able to get to underneath side of deck obviously. If you do not have access to impact tools, it is usually easiest to remove the deck as you must keep the blades from turning. Place a block of wood to where it will jam the blade while attempting to turn the nut. (7/8" socket or wrench). Usually very tight, try some penetrating oil to help.
