Question about Dishwashers
My drain motor seems to work. On inspection my pump impeller is broken and was rubbing on its housing. I've replaced it and the seal and chopper blade. Can the motor be reset or is it cooked?
I seriously doubt that they are related. I think you were in the right ball park when you found the pump impeller broken. Not sure about a motor re-set since I have not seen one on the brands that I have worked on, if you provide the make and model # that will help use better serve you. How old is this dishwasher? If you shine a flashlight into the motor and look at the windings you might be able to see the copper windings of the motor. If they look black and like they have been exposed to high heat, then your motor is more than likely cooked. If you have a multi-meter and you can find the wires coming off of the motor you might also be able to do a continuity check and if you have no continuity, the motor is cooked. Good luck & hope this helps!
