Question about GE Washing Machines
On inspecting the drum... it does not seem to move up and down and seems quite stable however I can move it front to back up to 5 or 6 inches. I am not sure if this is normal.

I don't think that much movement is normal front to back. The spin drum is held in place by a big nut on the back outside of washer. Remove back panel and look at big pulley/belt system and see if it is loose. Pulley should be held on with a big nut.
