Mac tools ultramig 200 buttons wont work but has power

I have a mig / gas micro controlled welder from Mac tools. It has power to the transformer and to the panel on the front of the welder but the buttons wont work. Is there a fuse or relay that is bad ? I got it from a friend that used it maybe 20 times and took exelent care of it.

More than likely you will need a PCB, and they are expensive. No fuse that I am aware of. Check the control transformer for voltage.

Dont the pcb usually show some sign of burnt/blown components on them? I know that you cant see the problem if one of the IC chips are bad. Is there anyway to verify its the pcb that you might know of . I also keep hearing that the diode on the transformer witll cause this problem. I am getting power thru both transformers and up to the pcb that works the push sensor buttons on the front panel.

SOURCE: relay clicks, gas blows, rollers dont turn

If you use it regularly, the liner should be replaced about every 6 months. Make sure you get a wiper for the wire. It goes inside the machine, on the wire, just before the feed rollers. It keeps the dust from clogging the liner.

SOURCE: snap on ya219B mig welder. when welding, spark

I have the same problem with my ya219b every year or so. it is the diodes located on the aluminum plate above the transformer. usually they short first and cause the welder to grun and barely weld at all and the they open up and everything works except for welding. when replacing, pay close attention to the polarity of the diodes. there is usually a little schematic symbol printed on it to tell you which is the anode and which is the cathode

The other difference between gas/gasless is the ability to reverse the gun polarity which you can't do with a gasless only welder. You can get it to work but not safely and reliability could be an issue also.

Is there any buttons on welder to get a earth I have brand new jasic 250 all set up but cant seem to get a earth no spark did I do something wrong

The welding rod lead has to go into the +ve while the current return which looks like a big alligator clip goes into -ve and is clipped to the metal object you wish to weld.
if you are using mig then check the little black switch under the left zero has been switched to mig.
there is a orange power switch thing on the back of the welder that needs to be checked also .

Repair mig welder

Control circuit failure or blown fuse on low voltage power supply. Look for 24VAC transformer. If that is OK follow to the trigger contactor and see if it is disconnected, burnt, etc.

The weld wiring burning doesn't meant the transformer is good, it only means you have shorted hot to ground and thats what happens when hot touches ground it heats and melts. I would start by looking for a schematic for you welder. Check and making sure your getting good power to the power supply, relay(s) first. Also you can ohm out the transformer and check for the proper resistance but without the schematic/wiring diagram I can't say what the specs are. Normally on these the power comes in to the switch and then to the relay(s) which send power to the fan, and then splits to the trigger which allows power to the transformer, wire feed motor etc. But without the diagram your just shooting in the dark.

The welder working its feeding the wire and gas but its not arcing

Check all wiring connections first, sounds like a broken / loose wire / terminal. If all checks out may be the transformer has failed. Also look for fuses.
If you have exceeded the "duty cycle" unit will shut down till it cools.

The wire feed on my welder will not work.

Maybe you can get lucky like I did . Some times the acr volt selector switch gets corrosion in it and wont let the circuit board know to send power to the wire feed motor. You can cycle this arc volt. switch in my case it is the a,b,c,d,e, switch back and fourth a few times and this will brake the corrosion and your wire might feed again as mine did . This corrosion build up happens from not using and or sollecting the switch much usually on a welder at hm that gets very little use. it is common good luck .

Welder hums when you turn it on but it still welds. Sounds like a 3-phase motor with a dead leg. Ever setting is the same.

ive got a crapsman mig welder that does the same thing, i took it apart and the transformer looks to be fine, probably bad news in the long run
