The proper way is to use the Operating system's shutdown feature. This ensures that all open applications terminate properly, all open files save, and all disk caches write their remaining data to the drive before the notebook turns off. If it is not possible for the OS to do this, you can press and hold the Power button until the unit shuts off, but this could cause a loss of data or possible OS corruption.

Do I need security to stop hacking on my Asus notebook

If you don't have a Anti Virus on your computer your asking for trouble. Most likely it came with Anti Virus, is it Current? Up-to-date? The best security is a informed/aware computer user. That said, a Good Anti Virus and Anti Malware can't hurt. When your Laptop isn't in use, turn in off. Unplug.

I press f8 when starting but unable to get into safe mode. I have windows 7 OS on an ASUS A52F.

You have to tap F8 Repeatedly right after the initial splash screen goes away. Then it will come up with a menu for you to choose Safe Mode.

Hi - I have an Asus Eee PC and when i turn it on, the screen is black, the lights are on and its fully charged but nothing else happens...

The issue might be corrupted display drivers, I recommend you to boot the laptop in safe mode by using F8 key and if you are able to get into safe mode, update your display drivers and update BIOS.

Hi my laptop turns on and goes to the windows

Hi,

If it starts to load the operating system and then the display goes black then chances are that the dispay/video drivers are corrupt.

Boot the machine into safe mode by restarting the computer and repeatedly press the F8 key as it starts. This should bring up a sub menu with safe mode at the top. Use the cursor keys to highlight safe mode and press enter.
You will see white boot information scroll up the screen, be patient and wait for it to load up.
Click on your account and you will see a message about system restore. You don't want to use system restore so click on yes to work in safe mode.

Right click on My Computer/Computer and click on manage from the list. Then select Device Manager.

Look in the list for display adapters and click on the + or > next to to expand the list. Right click on the display adapter and select uninstall.

Restart the computer and it should load up the operating system and reinstall the drivers for the display.

Regards.

Screen is empty,blue nothing works...

Try booting up your laptop to safe mode by pressing F8 as soon as you turn on your laptop.

Choose safe mode and see if you can get in there. If you can then choose to restore your system back to the last date it was working properly.

If you can't do anything in safe mode either then that means the operating system is corrupt and you need to restore your computer back to factory defaults either by an internal factory restore on your ASUS or the discs if they came with it.
