Which browser still works with Windows XP ?

Hi, I have an old PC with Windows XP installed. There's no problem with it, except that browsers have become really slow, while the signal strength of Wifi is great. The web pages open really slowly and after waiting for a long time. Which browser and what version still supports Win Xp ? Pls help.

Your problem is not the browser but a typical windows corruption Iissue of some "service". It should be solved reinstalling Windows XP.
In any case, try OPERA
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/opera_portable
it is a compact browser.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Trying to install new tor browser update, it says create new directory

Odd, never saw that error before. You might try using Revo Uninstaller (free download) to remove all traces of your old TOR browser on Windows. If on Linux, just delete the old TOR browser.

Why not just follow instructions and create the new directory? I think traces of your old TOR browser are causing this error.

How To Return To Classic Yahoo Mail...Permanently

Something strange happened while browsing at a cybercafe. I logged into yahoo mail on a windows XP system & was told my browser doesn't support the features of the new yahoo mail. Then I was given the option to return to classic mail temporarily or permanently. I chose the latter and right now I'm at home using yahoo mail classic. Here's the trick:
1. Get an old browser version of Internet explorer. The easiest way to do this is to get a copy of windows XP service pack 2 or 3 which comes with internet explorer 6. (the cafe I was in used this).

2. Install XP. You won't want to mess up your PC or laptop just for this so grab something old. You can also use Virtual-PC, VM-ware or any good desktop virtualization software. Do a clean install. Don't install anything else unless it helps you connect to the internet. Don't install flash player or any plugins yet.

3. Go online and log into your yahoo mail account. Yahoo will apologise and give you two options: (i) Return to classic yahoo for this session.....ignore this. (ii) Switch back to classic yahoo mail....second link, click this.

That's it guys...enjoy. I'm going to confirm this on other browsers as well.

Every time i go onto the zoosk web site it keeps telling me to upgrade my browser which i dont understand & cant seem to get rid of

Most modern web sites require a newer version of a "web browser" in order to ensure that all of the features of the web site work correctly. You are probably using an old version of "Internet Explorer" which is the web browser built in to Windows.
If you are using Microsoft Windows XP or newer, you should visit: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-8 and download an install Internet Explorer 8.
If you have an older version of Windows, the alternate "Firefox" browser can get downloaded from http://getfirefox.com. When you install that, click on the "Firefox" icon to access web sites like Zoosk that need a newer browser.
If you are running very old Windows system like Windows 98, you may not be able to get rid of the message and should consider getting a newer computer.

Internet disconnects on using mozilla, safari, google chrome except internet explorer

This solution depends on how long ago you installed all 3 Browsers on your system.
I'm assuming you're using a Windows PC running Windows XP or Windows Vista

1- First, you want to uninstall Safari and Google Chrome (one at a time) from your PC. These two browsers are new to PC's and are not fully debugged/tested yet.
2- after uninstalling both, restart your computer 1 time.
3- After starting up again, start Firefox and try to surf to a website you haven't tried before on it.
4- If unsuccessful, check which version of Firefox you're using. If it is older than version 3.01, use Internet explorer to go to their website and download the new version.
5- uninstall the old version of firefox first, before installing the new version (always follow this rule for all future program installations, unless otherwise stated in the instructions for the program)
6- Once you have the new version of Firefox installed, run it and check for internet connectivity.
7- Firefox may ask to get settings from Internet Explorer at some point, say yes.

Let us know how it goes and rate us. :)

Windows xp installer problem

Jack,

Do you know what it's trying to install? The status bar at the top of the browser should be prompting you with the name of the package.

Are you sure it's the browser and not windows trying to install something? Run Windows update and be sure everything is current. You may have to run & reboot a few times before your machine is up to date.
