Remove it , dissassemble it and wash in clean petrol or carby cleaner
blow out all holes with compressed air
fit all new rubber bits
don't use e - fuels as most small engines will not run on the fuel
use the correct ratio of oil and fuel in the tank
use only 2 stroke oil --not engine oils

Echo actually recommends using a sonic cleaner for their carbs. But in the real world it's replace rather than rebuild.

now since your carb isn't 12 bucks like mentioned above. You truly need to pay attention taking it apart. Look at the welch plugs for obvious signs of glue loss. Cleaning it is a hit and miss. Sometimes, they just don't come clean. But soaking it and then blowing it out is your best choice. Do not stick wires into any holes. Make sure you remove the mixture screws before cleaning.

Proper adjustment for carburetor

A proper adjustment of a carburetor can only made IF ....

The seals on the crankshaft are good , no leaking gaskets and a good clean fuel line (and no tankairiation problem) and the cillinder compression is good and also a clean airfilter on the carburetor if you adjust .
Then if thats good then only you can trust on the L + H and trottle adjustment

Why does my echo 230 weedeater not throttle up

This is usually a result of the diaphram in the card being too dry to open and close properly fromt the vacum of the engine. I have replaced just the diaphram for around 12 bucks or replaced the whole carb from Ebay etc around 30 to 50 bucks.

How do i clean the carb

Whatever you do, don't remove the carb and soak it in GUNK type parts cleaner. The solution is very strong and will destroy the internal parts of the carburetor. To properly clean it, it must be removed and the internal gaskets and parts removed. You would then want to spray through all of the orifices with a mild solvent like WD-40. Harsh solvents are bad as they can destroy the small, sensitive check valves located inside the carburetor. That would be the proper way. If you choose not to remove the carburetor, you can add a small amount of fuel cleaner to the fuel mix, but be careful here, as the fuel mix provides ALL the lubrication to the engine.

I have a Echo leaf blower and I can get it running but then it's cuts off after just a few seconds. It has new plug, air filter and fuel filter. What else could it be?

The carburetor could be dirty and need a good cleaning and you could first remove the fuel pump cover (cover without the vent hole) to the carburetor and look for the small, round, fine-mesh screen. Sometimes it gets covered with dirt and debris and has to be cleaned as it allows the fuel to flow into the metering side of the carburetor.

Will only develop power (and run somewhat properly) when the choke is engaged about 90%. Starts fine.

Sounds to me as tho you may have a loose carburetor or another part that is letting air into the system. Check all bolts and screws for tightness. Also, you may need to clean the carburetor or put some cleaner in your gas. Not too much, only about a tablespoon, but check the screws/bolts first.

I have an echo C8 345 that will not run more than 5 secs. when you push the primer bulb and fill the carb, it will run until that is used up and quit. i took the fuel line off at the carb and gas runs out...

If pushing the bulb feeds fuel to the carburetor it isn't conneced properly.

  1. The filtered hose from the fuel tank connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  2. The output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer bulb (once bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill the bulb as the bulb reinflates).
  3. The pressure side of the primer returns any excess fuel to the tank as it is depressed.

Engine won't accelerate on Echo PE269 edger

Hello rbronniman:

I Understand you have Cleaned the Exhaust Port, but Did you try Running the Engine with the Muffler Off the Unit?
Sometimes the Muffler or Spark Arrestor Screen can be Restricted Also.
If the Muffler and Spark Arrestor are Clear, then the Problem is Either Worn Rings, Bad Carburetor Mount Gasket, Improper Spark Plug Gap, the Carburetor Metering Jet is Not Operating Correctly or the Internal Carburetor Filter/Screen is Restricted and Requires Cleaning/Replacing.
To Correct this you need to Soak and Clean the Carburetor.
>>The Following is a Basic File I Made for Cleaning Carburetors. Any Input is Appreciated. Even though the Carburetor Looks Clean, the Internal Passages May be Restricted with Varnish that Gas Causes to Build Up over Time.
>>Spray Cleaners Remove this Varnish in Layers, so Soaking is the Only Sure Way to Remove ALL this Varnish.
>>I have Found that Most People can Use a Breakdown/IPL and Disassemble the Carburetor Enough for Proper Cleaning.
>>Remove Any Adjustment Screws that Go Into the Carburetor Body. The Welch Plugs Do Not have to be Removed.
>>If you are Able to Remove and Disassemble the Carburetor and Keep the Gaskets Intact, then Usually these Gaskets can be Reused. The Only Parts you May Need to Replace are the Needle Valve and Metering Pump Diaphram.
>>The Metering Jet Diaphram Dowl should Just be Touching the Metering Jet Actuator.
>>The Metering Jet is Under the Carburetor Plate with 4 Small Screws Holding the Cover Plate to the Carburetor Body.
>>Check the Internal Screen Filter for Restriction also.
>>If you Order a Kit, then Replace All the Old Components with the New Ones in the Kit even if the Old Parts Look Good.
>>Once Disassembled, then Soak the Carburetor Body and Parts in a 1 Gallon Can of Gunk Carburetor Cleaner Overnight. The Can has a Parts Tray Inside it for the Small Parts.
>>Once the Carburetor and Parts are in the Cleaner, you can Replace the Lid for Safety and to Prevent Accidental Spillage. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air.
>>***(Do Not Use High Pressure Air for the Zama Carburetors, they have Check Valves for the Primer and these are Usually Blown Out of the Carburetor if Not Careful. Allow the Zama Carburetor to Set on a Drip Pan and Dry)***.
>>****All the Carburetor Adjustments are the Same for Lawn Mower and Trimmers.
>>If the Main Air and Idle Air Mixture Screws are Side by Side on the Side of the Carburetor, then the Idle Air is Nearest the Engine.
>>****Turn the Idle Air and Main Air Mixture Screws In Until SNUG **Do Not Jam** Then Reverse Both Screws 1 1/2 Turns. Holding the Throttle Full Open, Start the Engine. Turn the Main Air Mixture Screw Clockwise Until Proper Revs are Obtained. Occasionally you May have to Turn this Counter Clockwise to Achieve the Proper Revs. Now Allow the Engine to Idle. Set the Engine Idle Screw (Not Idle Air) so the Engine will Stay Running if Required. Now Set the Idle Air Mixture Screw so there is No Hesitation when Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Reset the Engine Idle if Required.****
>>If you have Questions, Please Ask. The links above Provide Good Directions on Cleaning the Carburetor. Make sure you use an Compressed Air to Blow through all the Carburetor Passages to make sure they are Clear.

Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully
