Question about Dryers

When checking if have electrical current I check each circuit breaker one by one from top to bottom....it seems every other breaker has no power does anyone no why this is and what I can fix

Looks like you lost a hot leg. There are two hot legs (black wires) and a neutral (white wire). Put your voltage detector on both terminals of the main circuit breaker, there should be 220-240 volts. If this is not the case, shut the breaker off and back on and read the voltage again, if it's still the same, call your power company asking them to check their side of the power sevice entrance. If you are on fuses, one fuse may be open, burned out.

Check each breaker to the neutral/ground bus bar. if evey other breaker is out you have a bad main or feed from the meter.

SOURCE: dryer just quit

I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer Check the door switch, , Take back off dryer There is a fuse in the back its white oblong 2 wires coming from it, left side on blower outlet ..be carefull hook the 2 wires togather and if it comes on the fuse is bad needs replacing same way with the door switch.

SOURCE: whirlpool electric dryer keeps tripping main circuit breaker

First off, be sure the pigtail is wired correctly to the back of the unit. Black and red to the outside terminals, white to the middle, green to the frame or cabinet (should be a green screw close-by). If that is ok, you probably have an issue with possibly a bad pigtail, bad outlet, wiring issue, or possibly a bad circuit breaker or breaker box. Probably going to be more of a electrical problem than a appliance problem. Good Luck!!!!

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.

To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning

most maytag "performa" dryers with no power h appen froma blown thermal fuse. It is located under the top and beside the heating element. you can take an ohm meter to both terminals.If you do not get a reading, the part is bad. It comes as a kit with a new safety tstat

SOURCE: Dryer won't start

OK first thing for you to do to know if this could work for you is check were the power cord connects to your dryer... if you have and it reads 220 or better then you can proceed.start by taking the back panel off and locate your blower housing(it will be on left of dryer).There will be a white barcode looking strip with two wires coming out of it.Take the dissconnect dryer take a strip of tin foil and bridge the two togarher plug dryer up and it should run.If it does the you just need a new fuse or do what I did get one off an old Dryer no one else is using!

I have a Sauter oven. When I try tuning it on nothing happens. No light,no fan,no heat.The clock display seems OK.I tried pressing the menu button several times.Nothing helps.What can be the solution?


I should suspect the fuse or circuit breaker that is supposed to power the oven if turned off.
It could be nothing more than a power surge from a lightning strike somewhere.
Find the electric box and check it out.
If the fuse or circuit breakers panel is good, remove the oven and check for current at the wiring that goes from the oven to the fuse/circuit breaker box.
If all that tests good, you have a problem with the oven control.
It may be "toasted". (No good)

Electric range drawing too much current


Are the top and bottom elements not supposed to come on when in bake mode? Check your instruction manual. The circuit breaker will not affect how your oven works. If the CB is tripping then maybe the circuit is not of a high enough rating to cope. Again check on the load that the oven takes in the instruction manual.

Why ge washer not spin or agitate?


Check to see if any power to that outlet to see if you have some power by plugging in a light or other electrical device. No power? check circuit breaker for Washer electrical outlet. If it pops back, you have a short somewhere. Unplug washer then try circuit breaker again. If the circuit breaker stays on, you have a problem in the Washer. Call Service man or may be cheaper to find a lightly used replacement, or buy new.

Power button will not turn on machine


Check the current overload bottom on the electrical outlet. if it has one, and the circuit breaker on the electrical panel, it may be off.

If this doesn't work, is an internal problem you need to call a tech. for assistance

I have replaced the bottom element,and now i have no hot water. I check with a meter and have power to the top element but not the bottom one.


First of all, you have 240V water heater because tank has two elements.
You have no hot water, and tank has power to upper element.
Lower element has no power.

Something doesn't sound right.
You're not testing correctly.

Before doing anything, test across top two screws of upper element for 240Volts.
This will eliminate electrical problem as suspect.
Breaker must deliver 120V on both legs to complete the 240V circuit.
Every single-phase household circuit takes 2 wires to complete the circuit.
With 120V you need 1 neutral wire and 1 hot wire to complete circuit.
With 240V you need 2 hot wires, one from each hot busbar, to complete circuit.
Your water heater can appear to have electricity if breaker is delivering power on one leg of the 240V circuit.
To check breaker for sure, move wires to another similar size breaker to see if water heater functions properly.

If 240V circuit is good, then next thing is take 30 minutes and do full test of water heater parts.
This will identify exact problem(s) without guessing.
Buy 5$ multimeter from Home Depot. Install battery.
When test calls for continuity, rotate dial to Ohms (upside down horseshoe is ohms).
When test calls for testing voltage, rotate dial to 240-250-277 VAC

Fuses, Switches, Circuit Breakers And Relays
Check under hood and under the dash driver's side.
There may be a sticker on the inside of the panel cover that tells you the legend. Otherwise, it requires testing each and every one of those fuses, preferably with a fuse tester that can do it more expediently than pulling each one out and looking for a broken conductor.


Most vehicles use one or more fuse panels. This one is located on the driver’s side kick panel tcca6p01.jpg

It is possible for large surges of current to pass through the electrical system of your vehicle. If this surge of current were to reach the load in the circuit, this surge could burn it out or cause severe damage to the vehicle’s electrical system. It can overload the wiring, causing the harness to get hot and melt the insulation. To protect vehicle wiring, fuses, circuit breakers and/or fusible links are typically installed into the power supply wires throughout the electrical system. These items are nothing more than a built-in weak spot in the system. When an excessive amount of current flows through a circuit it causes an increase in heat throughout the wiring. Fuses and circuit breakers are designed as the weak link in the system and will disconnect the circuit to prevent damage to the components contained within that circuit. Components are equipped with connectors so they may be replaced in situations where they were damaged due to a power surge.
The following are descriptions as to how fuses and circuit breakers protect the electrical system:
  • Fuse- A fuse is a weak link in the system designed to create an open circuit when the amperage flowing through that circuit exceeds the limits of the fuse. As the amperage increases, the conductor within the fuse heats up and eventually melts and breaks apart. This open circuit interrupts the flow of current and protects the components in the circuit.
  • Circuit Breaker- A circuit breaker is a "self-repairing" fuse. It will open the circuit in the same fashion as a fuse. The surge creates heat the same way that a fuse is affected. When the surge subsides and the circuit cools down, the circuit breaker will reset and allow current to flow through the circuit. Typically circuit breakers do not need to be replaced.
  • Fusible Link- A fusible link (fuse link or main link) is a short length of special, high temperature insulated wire that acts as a fuse. When an excessive electrical current passes through a fusible link, the thin gauge wire inside the link melts, creating an open to protect the circuit. To repair the circuit, the link must be replaced. Some newer type fusible links are housed in plug-in modules, which are simply replaced like a fuse, while older type fusible links must be cut and spliced if they melt
CAUTION
Always replace fuses, circuit breakers and fusible links with identically rated components. Under no circumstances should a protection device of higher or lower amperage rating be substituted.
Switches Switches are used in electrical circuits to control current flow. The most common use of relays and switches is to open and close circuits between the battery and various electrical loads in a circuit. loads are rated according to the amount of amperage they can handle. All of the current that the controlled load uses flows through a switch. Using a switch with an amperage rating lower than what the circuit is rated for could overload and cause damage to the components located on that circuit. Relays

Relays are used to control high-current loads with lower currents. Since these some loads require a large amount of current, the thickness of the wire in the circuit is also greater. If a switch were used to control the circuit, all of the current required to power the high-current load would have to pass through the switch. From a design standpoint, relays are used to limit current through switches and reduce the amount of heavy gauge wiring in the vehicle.
Relays are constructed of a set of switch contacts and a small electro-magnetic coil. When current flow through the coil a magnetic field is created. This field causes the contacts to touch, in turn completing the high-current circuit. Typically, relays are constructed so that the secondary contacts are open when the relay is de-energized (turned off). Circuits where relays are used include, but are not limited to, the horns, headlights, starter motor, electric fuel pump, blower motor and cooling fan motor.
Relays are composed of a coil and a set of switch contacts. The large wires connect a high current power source to one side of the relay switch contacts and from the other side of the relay switch contacts to the load. The smaller wires connect a low current power source to the relay control coil and from the control coil to the control switch and then to ground. tcca6g02.gif

Load Every electrical circuit must include a "load'' (something to consume voltage from the power source). Loads are resistances included in circuits to limit current flow. Loads are the components installed in circuits, such as headlights, wiper motors, door lock solenoids. Without a load, the battery would flow all of its energy through a circuit directly to ground. This is called a "dead-short to ground". The unchecked flow of electricity would cause a great amount of damage to the circuit by developing a tremendous amount of heat. Short circuits can develop sufficient heat to melt the insulation of surrounding wires, even reducing a multiple wire cable to a lump of plastic and copper.

Scooter stops intermittenly


Hi. Does the machine stop suddenly, or does it slowly stop as it normally would? Does this happen on hills or slopes?
A lot of scooters have a self-resetting circuit breaker connected to the battery leads. If the machine draws to much current ( amps ) then the circuit breaker trips out. After a few minutes the circuit breaker will reset and you can continue.
This could mean that the circuit breaker is faulty or that the motor is drawing to much current, or is burnt out.
Some machines have a very light duty circuit breaker, and these can trip out often. I have changed many of these circuit breakers for this reason.
Check all your battery leads are secure and tight.
If it is still a problem, get a serviceman to check the motor current is what it should be.

you need to check to make sure you have no power out put, check all receptacle. if none check your owner Manuel on how to flash your unit. you may want to check all breakers. if flashing don't work take it to repair center to check stator and rotor
