How do I fix my usb flash drive?

The port on it is twisted and kinda fell off. But I'm pretty sure the drive itself is working.

You are out of luck. You MIGHT get a repair tech to solder a new usb connector on it but I don't hold much hope for that. The connector is twisted because you twisted it.

It doesn't recognize USB flash drive anymore

The flash drive itself may be faulty or damaged, and sometimes this is not apparent from a physical inspection. Try attaching the drive to a USB port that you know is operational, and try plugging another USB device into that port to verify that the port is working.

The light is off and it is not reconized, is it the power, can I fix it?

try it in another usb port. this to make sure it is the drive and not the port. if it doesn't light up in a working port it's dead. if it is less than a year old go to the manufactures web site and see if you can get a new one. unfortunately there really are no fixes for dead flash drives. -aokcomputer

I have seen USB ports fried like this, by USB devices. It can render them usesless.

What you can try, is go to the Device Manager, and uninstall the USB ports there. Then go up to Scan for hardware changes. That should automatically reinstall the drivers, in case they got hosed.

If that still does not work, they may be dead. I have seen it where even a device light works, which means there is power on the USB port, but the communications part does not work.

In a desktop PC, you can get an add in PCI card, and route the ports to the front, that is a possible fix for you.

Flash drive not working

An option that you could do is to plug the flash drive in the back of the computer. The reason is because flash drives derive power from the USB port itself unlike other usb devices that you are using may have their own power or because the USB port in front does not give as much power as the one from the back.

Data recovery from a broken usb flash drive ? model dane elec zmate pendrive 512mb

Does the flash drive been detected by computer? If not, you may try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the flash drive is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager and then assign a drive letter to the flash drive. After that, download a flash drive data recovery software, recommended asoftech data recovery, you can refer to this tutorial
How to recover files from usb drive

If still does not work, you may format it (use quick format) and then use asoftech data recovery to recover your files.

Here's a video tutorial I find very useful

Flashing USB

The flashing light on the adapter that is plugged into the USB port is normal operation of this mouse. In order to hide the light, I put electrical tape over it. There is no way to turn it off, as the flashing light is an indication that it is receiving a signal from the mouse.

This is actually fairly common, if the laptop still works with the broken USB socket you can take the cheap approach which is just don't use that port. If you need more ports a USB hub is pretty inexpensive.

No power

Well, the first step in any problem of this nature is to narrow down the problem. We have three main things in effect here, and we need to know which one has the problem before we can fix it. First, the disk itself. Try other disks and make sure the disk is not faulty. Second, the usb ports. Try other devices in your usb ports to ensure they are installed and configured properly. If all of those work, it is narrowed down to the floppy drive itself. If it does not work on any pc's at all, then it definately has a problem, and I would suggest contacting SmartDisk technical support.
