iPhones have to be activated twice. Here is the procedure of activating one

go to Prepaid Phones No Contract Plans TracFone Wireless and click on activate. You may have to purchase a kit to activate the phone. GSM(sim card) or CDMA(no sim card( this type is older but does work well) activation are going to be your only two options. Why does my phone display "SIM card registration failed/Unregistered SIM" or
"No Service"?
When your TracFone is turned on you may receive the message "SIM card
registration failed", "Unregistered SIM", or "No Service" because your phone has
not yet been Activated. Please disregard this message, it will disappear once
your phone is Active.
