If you have a Piezzo or rotary type igniter, you may have a melted wire, broken porcelain base or faulty igniter, which means you need to replace the appropriate part. If you have a battery powered igniter, you most likely have a dead battery, which needs to be changed.

Ignitor doesn't click, spark or light gas

A minor scratch will not do much harm to your image unless you use higher f-stops.Buff might help if its done by the canon themselves but mostly once an element is scratched , its gone for ever. any attempt might deteriorate the image quality even fogging your image in certain parts. using fine glass polishing powder can be used very delicately but its pretty technique sensitive and you might almost ruin the whole lens element.
If your images are fine, then don't bother or else better change the element for full from the canon.Local shops might not give you the best result.

Ignitor doesn't click, spark or light gas

When my 2-year-old grill quit supplying a spark to light either the grill or the side burner, I removed the battery/start button and noticed droplets of water inside.
So I removed the ignitor unit. When I shook it, I could hear water sloshing inside, probably because I'm too lazy to put the cover on the grill after using it.
The part was going to be about $40 with shipping.
I shook out all the water I could, but still no spark.
Remembering a tip I'd heard about wet cell phones, I sealed the ignitor unit in a bag of dry white rice and left it on the grill in the Florida sun for a couple of days. Lots of condensation showed up on the plastic bag.
Shocking discovery: after two days in the plastic bag, I shook out residual rice, replaced the battery and button, pushed it, and the sparks tingled my fingers pretty well! Lots of volts!
Also works fine in the grill again. Probably works on all brands of grill ignitors...

Pressure washed grill. since none of the ignitors will spark...assuming due to the water hitting something it shouldn't have. how do i replace and what part would i need?

You are not clear as to the make / model of your unit so I will address general solutions. These spark modules generate high voltage 12-25 thousand volts. Since dirty water conducts electricity any residual water in the grill can cause a problem by conducting electricity in the wrong place. If you are able to safely light the grill with a match or lighter then doing so will help dry out the wetted grill components.
When you push the button if you can hear the clicking noice then the spark module is good. If no clicking noise is heard then check for wetted ignitor, bad batteries, or replace the ignitor. If you can hear clicking but have no spark at the burners, then the first thing to do is let it dry out. second, if you are able, ensure the electrodes (the part by the burner where the spark jumps the gap) are clear of all debris. If this is clear, verify all the wiring is attached to the applicable grounds, ignitors (the electronic box or piezo that generates the spark) and electrodes. If one wire is off at least one, if not two, spark points will stop working.
If this is a piezo ignition (one push of the button = one spark or a rotory knob that makes 3 sparks per 180 degrees of revolution) water can get into these units and they will work fine once they dry out.
If this is a battery operated unit make sure the battery is dry and functional, dry by hand don't wait for it to air dry and try again. I hope this helps Happy grilling

I have a kenmore gas grill that has the side burner. Up until recently, it has been working great. However, now the main grill won't light when pressing the ignition button but the side burner lights...

More than likely, the electrode spark ignitors on your main burners need to be cleaned. They will get covered with grease over time. Also check the wiring from the ignitor module to each spark ignitor being sure that all wiring is firmly in place. To clean the electrode(s) ... a cotton ball dipped in alcohol will work fine.

Hope this helped you solve the problem and Happy Grilling!

Need to manually light the grill as the starter is not working

Is the igniter sparking? Some are battery powered-check the battery or replace it. If you have a standard push button piezzo igniter or a rotary style2_bing.gif igniter, check for spark. Can you hear or see the spark? It's hard to see the spark in bright daylight. It's easier to view the spark at dusk or dawn. It should spark an "arc" at the burner. If not, adjust it if necessary. The igniter wire may have a short, causing the spark to arc somewhere else along the wire and not at the burner. Replace igniter wire. It's also possible the igniter tip where it sparks has a cracked or broken porcelain portion of the igniter, causing the spark to not arc at the tip where it's supposed to. Replace the igniter piece.

Hope this helps! Douglas

Igniter Stopped working

Igniter could be shot. Take out igniter and put near something metal. Push button to see if sparks occur. If not igniter is no good. If this works, the end of wire that is near wear the igniter sparks to light grill could be to far away from metal, bend to get closer to metal, so it will spark, or end could be covered with grease, clean end and try for spark again.

No spark

You will probably have to replace the electronic ignition module located directly behind the panel the button is mounted on.

Contact a retailer for replacement parts, as they may carry the module.

All else fails, you will have to contact the manufacture.

Ignitor not working

I'm sure you have fixed yours by now, but if not, make sure the igniter wire is about 1/8" to 1/4" away from the fitting so it can produce a large enough spark to ignite it. Hope this helps!
