Question about Eureka Sanitaire SC4570 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Hose Problem The hose broke just above the cuff on the inlet end of the hose.  I found that the hose doesn't thread into this cuff but appears to be heat bonded in some way. Can I get a replacement cuff or do I have to replace the hose?

Re: Hose Problem

Looks like you can just get the hose, part #38479-4, It should just screw into the adapter or it may be glued in.

Hi there,

The hose cuff is manufactured as part of the complete hose assembly, and it's not possible to remove or replace the cuff without damaging the hose.

However, if your hose has been damaged, it would be worth getting in touch with us directly. Our experts will be able to confirm if we're able to help under the terms of our 5-year guarantee. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Should the handle stay in the hose when it is detached from the machine? My DC04 did but we just got this one and it doesn't seem to stay in. There doesn't appear to be a way of keeping it in?

There is two versions of hose for the DC04 just check you have the correct hose on your machine.
If your machine is green, the hose should have a rubber cuff, that just pushes on and of the metal tube
If your machine is any other colour, the hose should have a plastic cuff, with release catches that lock on to the metal tube

How do i remove the old hose assembly non my simplicity 7350 so i can install the new part? It seems to be locked in tight, do i break the tabs?

Are you just trying to put the hose into the cuff? If so, you just need to know that the cuff is threaded so the wire of the hose fits in the threads. If you're asking about the assembly at the top of the hose--I don't know. Probably you have to take the green shell apart and work from the inside. Good luck.

I have a dyson dc 07 how on earth do i connect the flexible hose for cleasning the the stairs to the machine

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

I am not clear from your question as to whether you have purchased a replacement hose and need to know how to fit it or you are asking how you use the hose to vacuum?

If you are trying to fit a new hose, with the old one removed, simply line up the large plastic cuff on the base of the hose (this is the one with the cable tidy) and push it downwards into the slot at the base of the main body until it clicks into place. You can then insert the wand handle back in and store it on the machine.

If you would like to know how to to use the wand/hose, simply press the wand catch on the front of the wand handle just above the main carrying handle and pull it upwards. You can then splide the hose to the bottom of the metal pipe and press the button on the hose cuff to release the wand handle. The tools fit directly onto the hose cuff for vacuuming the car, your stairs or upholstery.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards

I've just installed a hoover central vaccum SH800CA and when i plug the hose in the inlet, it doesn't turn on. It turns on when I turn on the switch on the canister

The hose connects to a set of low voltage contacts inside the top of each inlet. The vac wiring is connected by a low voltage circuit to each inlet as well. your hose when plugged in completes the circuit when you turn the hose switch on. For simplicity ,I also use a coin to connect the terminals mentioned below instead of dragging the hose with you.
Reinsert the hose with the tongue or cord at 12 o clock or 6 o'clock position. If the vac does not start, rotate the hose cuff to 3 oclock. This over rides the hose handle switch to test the vac circuit.
if the vac still does not start you have a loss of LV signal in your wiring. You will need to back track to make sure you have continuity from the vac to each inlet.
if you have colored alarm or telephone type wire, it is very easy to break a wire strand while fastening so go back one connection at a time and inspect.
If you have no power to any inlets, your problem will be in the main run of wire from the vac, likely to the first connection. If you have power at only some inlets, your issue will be at one of your wire junctions, either at a pipe intersection or where two wires meet at an inlet, depending on how the system was wired.
Post back to say how you are making out

Have a kenmore canister vacuum cleaner which the power-mate parts don't work. I had loaned the vac out it came back with part of the hose smashed. I don't know if that is the problem.

The hose conducts power to the "power Mate"
There are wires running end to end through the hose and handle. If your hose is grey with hard plastic cuffs at both ends, it is repairable, but you will need to locate the Smashed parts.
If your hose is almond or gray with ribbing like miniature spider web between the corrugations and vinyl cuffs molded onto it , it is likely a non serviceable hose and needs to be replalced, Sears or a Panasonic vac warranty repair shop should be able to supply the parts.
Lesson learned, give the bill to whoever borrowed it

Progressive Kenmore hose canister connection broken 116,2341130

A regular person with patience can however it is tricky. Kenmore hoses have an arrow at the cuff where the corrugated hose meets the swivel elbow at the machine, and at the cuff where the handle meets the hose. If your parts fit in the handle, the cuff needs to be squeezed slightly out of round at the arrows to allow the handle to be popped out, usually by using a vice and applying a sharp blow by hand to the underside of the hand grip.
If your problem is in the lower sleeve area where dirt gets into the contacts at the machine end, there is a 1" clip with bayonets on either side. It must be compressed at the bayonets to allow the sleeve to slide off. The internal contact rings should be cleaned and polished with W/D sand paper #600 and then lubed with vaseline. Contact fingers should be spread to apply more pressure on the internal rings before reassembling in opposite order.
When in doubt Panasonic and Kenmore warranty centers will be familiar with these.

Can the damaged hose 8 inces from handle be cut then replace hose

If the hose is non-wired then you can fix this yourself. When you Plug the cuff into your wall inlet does the vacuum turn on automatically? If so then you should be able to trim the hose with no ill effects other than losing eight inches of cleaning area.

If the hose has a switch on it's handle that turns the vacuum on and off, you will probably need a technician to fix the hose. Some wired hoses even have High Voltage lines in them and should never be taken apart.

Remove connectors off hose

Are you talking about the hose cuffs? If so, put the cuff in a vise and squeeze it until you see the locking tabs and using flat blades, pry the hose out from the cuff.

Kenmore cannister vacuum tube - reattaching connectors

Make sure that the two prongs that go over the hose are going in the correct slot in the cuff. If in the wrong one, the cuff won't snap into place. I have had to slam the end of the hose on the work bench while holding the cuff to push it all of the way on. Some I have heard warm up the cuff in hot water or a hair dryer to make it more pliable.
