You may not want to do this, but drill a 1/2 inch hole in the metal pipe near the top where it can be coveerd by the thumb when you want the full suction and left open for reduced suction. I had one that was made this way.

My Shark Navigator works very well, great suction. However, it is very hard to push on carpet. Can this be adjusted?

Two things make carpet vacing easier. First is the floor piece. It should be a smooth slight rounded shaped piece with just a small line of bristles or none at all. Second is mostly for area rugs is to open the suction vent usually located near the handle. That allows some air in which takes suction away from the floor piece allowing it to slide on the rug rather than drag it around.

Navigator sticks to the bottom of the pool and won't move. I replaced the turbine and the A frames are good. Will new feet help? the current ones are worn.

The feet might be the problem, but more than likely, you have too much suction on the pool vac. There is a suction gauge that comes with all new cleaners and most pool stores will have them available (maybe as a loaner even) to allow you to adjust the suction to your pool cleaner.
Try adjusting your suction to your cleaner to reduce the amount of direct suction to the cleaner to see if it operates, but if your feet are worn, you should definitely replace them.

Little suction

Most vacuums have an air intake adjustment. If this intake is opened, the suction is affected. It is on the hose usually and is a simple procedure to turn it to closed. If yours is an upright, there may be something lodged in the machine that keeps the air from flowing as it should. And of course, the bag or filter needs to be cleaned, emptied or replaced (depends on the type of vacuum) to assure good suction. Oh, also if you have a hose type vacuum, there might be something lodged in the hose. I usually take a mop or broom handle, remove the hose from the machine, and plunge the handle into both ends of the hose to dislodge the stuck item.

My pool navigator will not stay at the bottom its always coming to the top to clean and hovers there.

if by saying at the top you mean running around the top of the walls then reduce the suction on the vacuum by opening another valve slightly... if by at the top you mean floating around in the water then make sure the vacuum is getting enough suction.... it can be a number of issues causing loss of suction but most likely is going to be too many sources on suction side of pump.

Poor suction

This vaccuum has a Fan Blade inside connected to the motor that spins to create the suction you feel. After a few years of use (and misuse) the blades on this (plastic) fan will be broken off, thus damaging the unit. These Fans are replaceable if you can find where you can purchase a new one. Now, if you have any knowledge of repairs at all, it's not that hard to replace to fix. If you don't feel capable of this though, I suggest you refer to someone more qualified to do this repair.

Suction not working

Hi,

Ok first thing to do is remove & clean the 2 piece premotor filter or purchase new.

Now remove soleplate from bottom of machine to do this rotate the 3 plastic screws to unlock position. Lift sole plate off now remove any blockagers or fluff that may be built up over the brush roller.
Remove hair from brush roll using scissors.

Check short clear hose for blockages & any damage rips or tares if it is damaged purchase new hose.

Now look at belts & rotate brush roller it should turn relatively easy if it is difficult to turn by hand remove the brush roller & pull off the end caps the axle will come out with one of the caps.
Check the roller bearings clean away dust build up replace end caps & axle spin roller holding on to end cap if freely to spin refit back on to machine.

If its stiff to rotate you will need new roller.

Now pull off the 2 inspection ports check them for bits of paper etc especialy the (U) shaped port at bottom rear of machine this can contain pens pencills stones all sorts of items that hinder the suction.

Now check the long flexi hose & metal wand for any obstructions.

If after all this machine is still not working correctly go to this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/

On this site you will find Dyson service manuals covering poor suction, clutch, motor, etc.

Bissell Model 3593-2 Upright purchased 3 years ago not drawing up dirt as it use to

Check where there is suction...is there good suction at the hose...at the back of the vacuum. Knowing where there is good suction will help you know where there might be a clog or any resistance. Bissell also has a fairly good customer support line...I believe the phone number might be on the vaccuum possibly in the back.
