Question about AT&T ATT TL86109 Cordless Phone

Replaced battery but will not charge

It says charging but the light does not go on and I cannot get dial tone.

Did it fall in water, or have anything else happen to it (was it dropped ?) Also, check the metal prongs inside the phone to make sure they are touching the metal strips on the new battery.

Found the following in AT&Ts FAQs for your phone, I'll leave only what might be relevant: # Charge the handset for 12 hours. After the first charge, the battery will quick charge in only 8 hours. Re-cradle the handset nightly for recharging. The battery will not overcharge. # Connect telephone line from base to unit to modular telephone jack. If cord is already plugged in, unplug and reconnect at both ends. Also, you may want to try another cord from a working telephone. See the owner's manual under "Connecting to Phone Line." (you can get the manual here on the product page in case you lost it) # Try a working phone at the jack. If another phone has the same problem in that jack, the phone jack is defective. SOURCE: Unable to charge. it still says charging

You should return the product. This is relatively common, it needs a new battery. The battery will not take a charge. Here's the thing, batteries for cordless phones are a fortune. You should either return it or if you can't probably just buy a whole knew one.

If charger is good, you should look for replacement battery. Charger's condition might be diagnosed by any technician with a tester.

The battery in the handset may be faulty/flat. If it does not charge up then replace the battery.

The phone lights up when put to charge also the red light on the base,, but when the phone line is connected it wont work ..What do u think is the problem?


The battery in the handset could be bad . First I would test that the base unit is recieving dial tone by pressing speaker button on base unit. If there is dial tone then problem is in handset or in base unit communication to handset. Try resetting power to base unit. Check manual for any re-initialization procedure. If the base unit is not receiving dial tone then I would test that the phone line is delivering dial tone to the base unit by connecting a known good phone to the line cord. If the dial tone is not present , problem could be in line cord from outlet, outlet, building wiring, or service provider.

I would contact your phone provider. It could be a coinceidence that the dial tone stopped working.
DSL does not require dial tone to work.

Try switching batteries with one of your other handsets known to be in good working order or replace the batteries in the handset with the problem with new ones

Battery died and or charging system failure


I think its probably your only choice, NIMH batteries are known to have a very short shelf life if not regular charged / discharged you can get GE cordless batteries here - GE Cordless battery

Bought phone EX18560 Series yesterday. floolowed instructions to charge. Today I came home from work, plugged in telephone jack. phone will not turn on. Attempted to re-register (4X's). Led flashes....


I have two older (2002) model cordless Uniden phones that require the handsets to return to their original factory bases. If they have rested on another Uniden base, even of the same model, there is no dialup tone. Replace to the original base and you should be back in service.

Cant get one of the phone to get dial tone says unavalibel


All you have to do is put the phone that does not get a dial tone on the MAIN CHARGING BASE for 20 seconds! it will then sync up!
